Thumbs up 2011+ Discussion Thread-Any and all 3G topics

Since us 2011 owners only have a pic thread and not a general discussion thread, here it is. Anything and everything regarding the 3G is welcome here. Pics, questions, technical talk, parts fitment, wheels, suspension, tuning, etc. It's all good, and all welcome here.

Let's all help each other out, and not get the 2011 Pic Thread closed down.

You are correct Scotty. It's not mean to be. It's meant to be the discussion forum so that we can all take our chatter here, rather than clutter up the pic threads!

Define 3G so everyone knows what you're talking about. My first thought was that you should be looking for a cell phone forum.....

I'm right here, dawg.

I'm thinking about swapping my 2011 front bumper for a 2008-2010 STI front bumper just to be different. Should be pretty easy, right?

Also I'm thinking about going wingless and scoopless with a FMIC. Too weird? Or are ya'll too curious to say no?

Thanks for stopping in Chan! Should be a straight swap. Although it might change pipe routing if you go with a FMIC. Not sure though. Could be cool. Definitely confuse people. lol

I say definitely go scoopless with a FMIC. I can't stand seeing a scoop and a FMIC, just MHO. Although the reverse scoops look sweet. Does Seibon make one yet?

Not that I've seen. I figured if I get bored with FMIC scoopless I can get a CF hood like I always wanted to anyways and go back to TMIC.

I hate FMIC setups while retaining hoodscoops, too. It's kinda posing at that point, I dunno.

I'm definitely not crazy about bumper cutout and pipe-routing, but if it's going to be a non-stock bumper I guess it shouldn't matter that much.

Worst case scenario my WRX will look like a widebody base 2008-2011 Impreza.

Dude, you gotta learn to let go! Megaman X series is the best! Dude can dash, double jump, slide down walls like a boss, super charge, upgrade his armor, etc. Too sick!

Old school Megaman has better music, though, I must admit.

So Cel, whatchu think about my swap idea? Yay or nay?

3rd gen started with 08 with the 3rd gen Impreza, so maybe it's more like 3G V2.0?

IDK I sort of like the 2011 bumper better but im not sure. Mega Man X was awesome...2 seems pretty good but they seem to go downhill from there...I have X4, X7 and X8...not really a fan of those...maybe ill have to break out my hacked PSP and try to get through X2 and X3..lol. 2 and 3 are still the best though I think...5 sucks

hahaha I used AIM to chat with all of my Asian friends back in the days. Screw AIM!

I think the 2011 WRX/STI bumper is a lot nicer, but I'd be okay with the 08-10 STI bumper if I went scoopless just to make the car look... smoother? Not so aggressive?

I think I should be able to keep the fog lights, just not the surrounds since they're obviously different. It's just the bottom half of the grill and front bumper that's different up front for 2011, right? Hood fold that meets the grill should be the same.

Yeah, the bottom half is different. I do like the 11 bumper A LOT more though.

Don't aftermarket springs blow out your struts?

There's been a bunch of banter on that subject, and none of it has proven to be much more than marketing hype. "Their springs will blow your struts, so you have to buy our specially designed springs that are perfectly mated to our bilstein struts! That's the only way to avoid certain disaster and death!" type crap. Many people are running Epic springs with no ill effects.
