mounting amp to bottom of passenger seat?
I ran all my wiring and found that my favourite spot to install my amp was under the passenger seat. No wi have all the wires run and connected witha bit of free play to be able to readjusted it a bit.
No i looked under the seat of the passenger seat and it looks all foamy and has these bed spring kinda things. I was wondering how you all mounted the amp under the seat? Also on a side note I was thinkign i can't use the heat to foot setting as that would directly blow heat onto the amp which = no good. I was wondering is it safe to plug them or attempt to plug them? if not you guys have any type of suggestions on just rerouting it by using an extended tube? its retangular not sure if they make tubes like that. then if i did extend it i thought i'd be able to jsut mount the amp ring on top of the extended tube. Thanks for your input and suggestion guys! By the way i have a 2005RS -Vincent

Your best bet for the least fabrication.. is back-strapping. The same stuff you used to get, when you purchased CD players. You would have to screw the back-strapping into the metal frame and then secure it to your amp..
But if you can find a coil spring or something else.. you can zip-tie it to that on all 4-corners. It's very hard to say, what meets up w/ your amp's dimenstions and securing holes. The foot heater should not effect the performance of the amp. Consider that there are amps roasting in 150+F degrees in Arizona etc, in summer and in the sun. The cabin temp can get that hot, and depending on how long your car is sitting in that heat, the amp will be very hot when turning it on and using it... The amp will let you know when its too hot.. when it goes into protection... Absubtle PA |

If you do decide to put it under your seat make sure of two things.
1. It has enough clearence to both move the seat and allow air to cool the amp. If it is a high power amp it will overheat without enough air moving around it. 2. Make sure you mount it so the wiring (on both ends if applicable) is facing the sides. The last thing you need is the guy in the back seat kicking the amp and breaking off the wiring. Where the wires go into/screw into the amp is soldered to the amps main board. This is not a tough thing to break and a swift kick will do it instantly, it is also a pain in the butt to repair, and may not be doable at all. |

I'm lazy. I have my Sirius reciever under one seat, and my sub amp under the other.
They're held in place with industrial strength Velcro. Sounds ghetto, but you damned near have to use a leverage bar to release them if they've sat untouched for a while, but they ARE movable to reset, or change settings on either. Think i got the stuff at Radio Shack. |

When I first read the thread title I though he was trying to mount the amp upside down to the bottom of the seat
The way I put the amp under my seat was by sliding a board under the carpet and mounting to that. |

Mine are bolted to the metal of the floor under both seats, of course I have an older model. I used aluminum tape to block the floor heat vents, the amps don't need any extra heat, it's hard enough dissipating heat with ambient air. My power wire comes down under the center console and has a splitter underneath, going to each amp. I have this thing about weight distribution, had to keep the amps out of the trunk. Plus its' slightly more theft resistant when you have to remove both seats to unscrew the amps.
