I think you would be hard-pressed to find something that doesn’t suck.

Me personally? I can think of many things that don't suck. I visited California once. It's ok to visit.

I was waiting for this thread to appear (after the ones for WVU and PSU). But where's the love for the OSU Buckeyes? They defeated the evil and always overated Fighting Irish...

No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution (adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation. However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States...

Neither the Texas Constitution, nor the Constitution of the United States, explicitly or implicitly disallows the secession of Texas (or any other free and independent State) from the United States. Joining the Union was ever and always voluntary, rendering voluntary withdrawal an equally lawful and viable option (regardless of what any self-appointed academic, media, or government experts—including Abraham Lincoln himself—may have ever said).

so they don't allow secession, but they don't disallow it either. basically, yes, they can voluntarily secede. here's to hope!

No love for the Buckeyes. Sorry. Met just too many fans who didn't actually go to that school which feels wrong somehow.

<- has a coworker from Ohio who gives VT hard time when he didn't even goto OSU

I'm actually a Hokie alumnus. I grew up in Maryland and was later transplanted from the Mid-A region to Cleveland in 2003. I'm not much of an OSU fan. In fact -- much to all my friends' displeasure -- I rooted for Texas back in September when they played each other in the Horseshoe. However, I respect OSU (though not ex-Buckeye Marrice Clauret) and will root for them especially when they play certain other teams I care for less (like Notre Dame).

I understand your sentiment regarding people supporting schools they where never a part of (cough, Notre Dame, cough). Many of my friends are OSU fans, but never attended the university. Some even question me when I wear my "VT Hokies: 2004 ACC Champions" shirt -- gosh, I got two degrees there, the team's got great potential, I'm allowed to support my school once I've moved on. Ha ha!

chicken n waffles: Thanks for clearing that up! "Now I know, and knowing's half the battle."

See I totally respect that. It's like me rooting for the Terps in ACC basketball.
But I agree that some people take it way too seriously.
