Default MBC problems.....??? help

ok so here is the story.......my buddy installed my mbc....its just a cheap ebay one, no big deal, the day he installed it, the temp droped big time, it started snowing. So when i drove it after the install, the car started jerking and spuddering at about 5000rpm! But since it was so cold outside, i guessed that was why......well it snowed a foot and a half so i never had a chance to get on it for a week or two, in that week or two i installed my big 16g turbo, fuel pump, 565 injectors, and intake.....the snow finally melted and i got on it a little bit......the jerking was a little more violent but more-less the same behavior as before....this time i assumed it was because it was not tunned yet.......well i then installed my utec and a semi-tunned base map that should be decent intel the car is fully tunned, however, it STILL yet is acting up.............the only thing it could be is a boost leak of some kind due to a badly installed MBC! I know something is wrong because there is a line just hanging there not plugged or anything...... And of course, my friend who did the install is out of town for a couple months with no way to get ahold of him!

Now that you know the story....here is what is happening....I can hold boost at 10psi in first all the way to about 6500rpm almost no prob, but still slight jerking.....when i try to turn the boost up past 10psi, it shoots straight to 20psi! I would really like to completly remove the boost controller and just control boost with utec, but i dont have the "t" connector that came stock, nor was i there when it was all done so i dont know what lines go where....please, sombody give me some help here, pm me some pics, something! thanks guys

these pics show how it is setup....something isnt right here.....see the open line in between my fingers.....help please!!!

Here's another thought- get a tactrix cable and get some logs to see what's happening.

Those pictures don't really help. We need to see the lines coming off from the turbo.

I don't know if anyone else can though, I am just having a hard time figuring out what's what from those pictures.

I can't tell either. But my suggestion is to go to a dealership and get a replacment part. Those $89 boost controllers are unreliable, especially when the temp drops dramitically goes from hot in summer to cold in winter the boost will increase/decrease by itself. My boys rex had the turboxs mbc and when it got cold enough to snow his shot up from 18psi to 20psi. Im not sure about the jerking part. Imo the most accurate boost controllers cost about $500 hks electronic boost control. You wont have the boost jumping all over the place anymore. good luck

need a good pic of the wastegate actuator... and another at the boost source. he doesn't need a $500 electronic boost controller, he needs a good ball and spring manual boost controller.

+1
This is also what happens when friends let friends mod cars. Mod your own car and do the propper mods and get the tunes as you go.
On the MBC it does not take a lot of cranking to get the boost to shoot way up, little movements make pretty big increases.
Get your car to a tuner shop before it goes boom.

everyone has over looked the obvious.

check the parameters in the utec. make sure you have the right scaling.
ie: put it on stage 4 and GO GET A TUNE!

First thing you need to do is get rid of the MBC!! Take your car to be tuned professionally!!

Shortcuts=Disaster...I cant believe people are still doing this?? Havent we read enough threads with MBC causing problems?? Or do people still want to blow up there motors??

thanks guys keep it comin....I took off the boost controller and used a wideband yesterday and started taking fuel out at higher rpm.......it helped a lot! first gear is almost perfect at 10 psi....i cant imagine what 18psi will feel like.....i think im going to re-install the boost controller and try to dial in to a consistant 18psi before i continue tunning....because i will need more fuel with more boost of course....soon as it feels close, i will go to poweraxis raceing and get an appointment with ron in St. louis to get it done pro! The closser it is....the less dyno time i pay for......175/hr....thanks for the help guys and keep it comin!

When you figure out WTF you are talking about reply. MBC does/ will not hurt our cars if it is tuned for it.
Read, read, read , read and read some more before replying without a clue.

I see that I missed a call from you. I was working on MY car for once.

This is the last piece of advice I'm giving you free of charge. I have spent too many hours on the phone with you sucking up my cell minutes with ZERO compensation; Nothing but promises.... and you rarely do what I suggest anyway.

Get ahold of the UTEC bleed valve or a Perrin EBCS. Use that to adjust boost with the boost control system hooked up properly. If you can't figure it out, pay someone. (which I know is hard for you)

It's like I have told you over and over, your ecu will NOT work well with the MBC. The UTEC DOES NOT take full control over the car like TurboXS themselves will try and tell you. Using the MBC leads to more variables and a poorer running car without reflashing the ecu. Using the electronic boost control will allow you greater driveability and more accurate boost control based on load.

From your pictures, the MBC is hooked up backwards. The arrow shows direction of flow. It should go from the turbo outlet to the wastegate actuator (like I told you on the phone repeatedly) that picture shows the opposite.
