Dude, it's freezing outside. I change my mind man.
I'll tell you what tho, i didn't plan on doing anything for the cowboys game tonight but if any subie folks in the area want to drop by and watch the game just BYOB. Got a pool table too so you can drop by early and we can hit up some pool and check out the subies before the game if you want. |

But at the right angles and with the correct lighting you can make any paint job look good. Black is truely a hard color to keep looking clean. Also doesn't help that I drive on the highway alot. But on a side note in the 5 months I have had the car i have waxed its maybe 4 times with some turtle wax and clay bared with Meg's kit and when i wash it and it leaves water spots i use meg.'s quick detailer. But i have noticed i have lots of swirls and lots of permanent water spots that i seem to not be able to get out. If anyone can guide me on how to do that help? I might try going to a detail shop and have them do it. Unless i end up breaking out the spray gun and do my wheels like i want to and it turns out good. Then maybe I might try a touch up job on the hood.

Once you get swirls and micro scratches...it requires mechanical intervention via an orbital buffer and pads. With my black stang it took no less than 24 actual hours for the detailer to remove all the clear coat scratches because of the damage was so bad (bought it used).
I felt bad bc I paid the guy 200 bucks (he charged for the job not by the hour) and expected to be done within 6 hours...but it was 3x6. I tipped him well after though just because of that. Black is bad. This STI I just purchased is DGM. I'm a little worried about the paint now because I'm a details guy and try to keep my cars as pristine as possible. I'm contemplating using Zaino on this one but its such a loooong process. |

Also...maybe you folks in here can shed some light on this:
I've been reading a lot about the cars in stock trim being so lean that the engines are popping. How common is this really? I am not planning on doing any mods on this car...been there done that with the evo 9...not gonna spend that sort of cash this time and I want my warranty intact. Should I be giving this any real concern? Or is it a case of the internet exaggerating the issue? |

My 05 Sti was stage 2 for 3 years, driven hard every day, autocrossed a few times and all i ever did was basic maintenance. And at stage 2 you really have a lot of speed i never even felt like going stage 3 honestly. |

Well from what I've read the stage two you're getting a more safe tune anyway which negates the lean condition at the onset of boost? Which to my understanding is thought to be the cause for stock trimmed vehicles popping, no?
My thing is that I want my warranty intact for a bit...and worry that the lean factory tune would possibly damage the engine before I go messing with it later on down the line (if I even do). I guess I'm just trying to figure out if the internet talk is exaggerating the ringlands issue. If it's the factory tune, then I have to give some thought as to whether to do a tune out the box to preserve the engine (thereby giving SoA leverage to deny any mechanical failures down the line) or leave it factory and possibly be damaging the engine only to have it prematurely fail after the warranty period expires. Anyone in San Antonio that you guys know of who has had this problem under normal (unmodified) conditions? |

Intake Manifold question here. Can I use a STI's (04-07) and replace the one that is on my 08 WRX? I am looking at a bigger Top mount and if i can just get the STI TMIC and the manifold, that would be cheaper than buying the Other top performing Top Mounts.
Thanks for the help folks. |

Doing a simple reflash to a "stage 1" tune via something like the Cobb Accessport would completely eliminate the delay AND give you a much smoother power band and more over all power. Yes technically it could void your warranty if something were to happen down the road, but its really up to you. I don't know anyone personally who has popped ringlands on the stock tune, but like yourself I have read about it. We have a stage 1 tune on our 2011 stock STi, and it made a night and day difference in power delivery. |

Thanks for the insight. That's how it all started with my EVO. It was supposed to be just a tune and that's it...lol.
