Default 2013 MWSOC Subaru Shootout -Sept 14

Alright boys and girls it is once time again to start gearing up for this years Subaru Shootout

The Shootout will be on Saturday September 14th 2013 from 3pm till dusk.

The event will be an EVENING DRAG RACING EVENT ONLY

I was not able to secure funding for the Blackhawk event, I will work with them (Blackhawk Farms) this October to hopefully incorporate a high speed AutoX for the 2014 Season.

If you guys have question post up and I'll try and keep up with everything, I'm having back surgery AGAIN so bare with me if I don't get back right away but rest assure, I have everything under control, and we will have a kick ass event for the '13 season!!

If anyone has parts they would like to donate for trophies, pistons/rods, gears, any Subaru related internals that are cool, please PM me.

We look forward to seeing everyone for this years upcoming festivities!

I would dig night drags at Byron but I was under the impression that the reason Byron never ran night racing was because of the snobs who moved into the houses on the river.

Years back when I used to run my foxbody I had this discussion with the announcer and he basically told me this.

I have no idea what this is all about but it sounds like a lot of fun! Doubtful I'd camp out, but I would love to participate in AutoX and whatever else.

I talked with BJ regarding this specific issue and since the Subies are not even close to as loud as the v8 cars, we could most liely run till 11pm.

I'm thinking a 4pm - 11pm event should be perfect!

A nice change in pace and after last years heat, I think everyone is tired of baking in the sun in the staging lanes. Plus it killed our turnout.

Phil, if you can put together a 2 day event that would be awesome - especially something at Blackhawk. It would be great to see some old faces, as I surely won't be missing the Shootout this year...

cool.

my vote for the drag section is night time(as long as it isn't union grove- I hate their staging lanes). I think the auto cross Friday would be cool too but I didn't see the night drag/2 day event option.. unless we could've voted for two?

I don't have enough posts to vote, so I place a strictly plutonic vote for the evening races! I've only owned my sti since August, so this might be my first time out for such an event.

Dustin,

Thats the plan.

I'm going to need 30-40 people to put up a deposit to cover track rental.

The more people to sign up for Blackhawk, the cheaper it will be.

And they will cater lunch for all the racers!

Black Hawk Sign up: PM me under this account or under my personal acct. ronzogonzo
and I'll add your name. once we get a decent number I'll figure out the deposit amount.

I will also talk to our main sponsor (Evanston Subaru) about maybe covering some of the cost for this as well. Byron is footing the bill for the lighting and will also contribute to some prizes too.

Along with the usual shop sponsors, this should be a kick ass event!!

So is it official? Blackhawk farms now? Or still up in the air?

For me I love this idea. Once we have a date down I will be able to see if I can sign up. Buying a new house this year. Have a window I know we are going for. If this is before the window I will pre-pay right away.

For Blackhawk, maybe we should look at doing it in a high speed autocross style event. I would be easy to organize and I bet it would keep cost down as far as insurance.

Basically is a standing lap. Start and finish on the same lap. It keeps everyone spaced out and therefor keeps insurance WAY down. Mid West Council does these events and they work out great. This is NOT cone dodging in a parking lot.

Drag racing in Subarus? What is that? Is this live axle Mustang forum? One day maybe I will attend if the meet is held at REAL racetrack with real turns.
