Tootbrush and Simple Green work really well. You might have to use a plastic conditioner afterwards since it can dry out the plastic sometimes

Armor All does get the plastic looking black and shiny but personally I am not a fan because it covers up the wax as opposed to actually removing it. In addition I don't like the "slippery" texture that Armor All leaves on the surface but that's just an opinion. I've got some wax spots by my mirrors and I think I am going to go with the eraser option.

Go to your closest automotive paint shop (PPG, etc).
Ask for wax and grease remover.
Use it.

both WD-40 and Back to Black trim restorer have worked well for me in removing wax from black trim pieces as well.

I used simple green to remove all the wax and oil off my entire car prior to painting
