Default Pulled over for having a HKS Carbon Ti

Has anyone ever been pulled over for it? My friends keep telling me that i'm for sure going to be pulled over for it sooner or later. I was just wondering for the people who have it if they get pulled over for it a lot and end up getting fix it tickets. When I drive I try to avoid cops and I get paranoid. I live in Milpitas and a lot of people here say the cops are super strict so if people in other places get pulled over for it i'm sure i'd get pulled over for it too.

4 wrx, no cats, 3 are 1 piece exhaust... all most likely a lot louder than just a hks carbon ti, all had to start up in front of a bunch of MPD just chillen, they didnt even give us a second look, i dont think they're that much of nazi's, i live in south fremont, i'm in milpitas a lot, they seem to be really cool...

At one of our meets, one WRX had a HKS Carbon Ti and got singled out of the group and pulled over, if thats the kind of story you are looking for... (everyone else had a stock exhaust or an exhaust that looked stock)

I'm scared having a Cobb catback, which is probably one of the quieter and has one of the least rice-ish looking backboxes out there.

Down with paranoia...UP with stock looking exhausts! I'm sick of fearing the cops!

dont drive like a jackass and you will be fine.

most of the people you hear about getting poped for modifications are already pulled over for doing like 90 in a school zone or some crazy stuff like that

I had an Apex N1 on my WRX for about a year and a half, many a CHP behind me and I never got pulled over for it. N1s are about as flashy and 'rice' as you can get with an exhaust

moral of the story : be good and your local law enforcement officer will not bother you.

All I can say is good luck. Cops will pull you over just because they don't like your car color. I got pulled over for having a stock STi exhaust...and I was in my STi.

I drive my crazy-ass rally car all over the place, and yet the police don't bother me, because I drive slowly and safely, at least in civilized areas.

I had a HKS CF/Ti and got pulled over for it a couple of times.. I also got sent to state referee thanks to your friendly local CHP. And just to clear the air, on all of the occassions that I have received the tickets, I have been doing EXACTLY the speed limit, and had no other reason to be pulled over.

Loud/louder exhaust tends to get the cop's attention, therefore you'll most likely to get pull over eventally if you get a HKS/ Blitz/ Apex' exhaust... period.

i've had the carbon ti w/ gruppe-s uppipe and helix dp for a while now and haven't been pulled over so far. Normally when i'm around cops i'm not flooring it just driving normal and they dont even do anything. The carbon ti isn't very loud imo and the only reason they might pull you over is because of its big tip and canister.

it's all about not driving like an a$$. my exhaust was LOUD until I added a resonator to it (got sick of dead ears after road trips). 3" cat back, 3" magnaflow race series. nice deep loud idle, and downright mean at WOT. I got pulled over once for speeding, and the only comment the officer said about my exhaust was "sounds healthy, i've been looking for a new exhaust for my car, where'd you get it done?"

There is no longer a legal limit on exhaust noise, it is at the cops discretion, a pretty wack law, but thats the way it is now.

anything after the cat should be fine as long as it has a muffler and under 95db. If you get a ticket, you should be able to test for a certificate. For the HKS, just put the silencer and test. Or weld on another resonator(like some fujitsubo exhausts, or the greddy evo)

Some of you folks are confused...

Its not the sound that catches the most attention, it is the look.

You can see a car with a coffee can exhaust miles away, but a cop cant hear anything unless you pass by or do something foolish right by them (or have a straight pipe thats INSANE loud) heck, you cant even tell what car is making that sound at first, it takes time to pinpoint who is making the noise and in a crowd, it can be impossible.

So, how loud it is is irrellevent when compaired to how much attention your car atracts visually.
