Default sti radiator fans vs. wrx radiator fans

is there a difference? i'm using the wrx wiring and the sti radiator fans and the plugs coming out of the wiring harness of the wrx are totally different then the plugs coming out of the sti radiator fans.

i guess i assumed they were exactly the same. wondering if i can just chop the plugs off both and hard wire.

thanks in advance.

Are they both two wire or three wire fans? If so I would assume you could just change plugs. If they are two wire on ones side and 3 wire on the other that may be an issue.

2 wires = single speed fan
3 wires = dual speed fan

AFAIK, it is okay to use a dual speed fan with a single speed fan controller, you just use one set of wires and leave the other set open. I dont think you can use a single speed fan on a dual speed controller. I think it will throw an error.
