The electrical parts are available, identifying and sourcing them is the hard part, Subaru will sell you mirror parts but not the internal wiring. I have sourced the parts, I am going to make up a run of signal wiring, to see if people would be interested. If you use my wiring, you can make the signal like stock, with the waterproof plug and the wiring snaps into the connector in the door. It looks like this:

Oh wow look at Subaru stepping up, I always wanted auto-dimming exterior mirrors I had to buy a 12 year old low end Lexus to get them ha. Neat how it is all integrated into the mirror glass, makes it a pretty low cost accessory, in fact $158 is a STEAL for dimming glass both sides. A new dimming glass one side for my Lexus is like $400.

Now of course this is all pre-wired on the Forester...previously the largest connector was a 10-pin but this new Forester must have a 14-pin they have added at least 4 more wires. To add all that stuff to another model you'd have to wire into the door from the mirror and interior lighting to get both those functions to work, would be way cool though.
Please contact me at: [email protected]
I would like a set of these for my LED's Signal Mirrors. Thanks!

so how exactly would these work? the pins would plug into the wiring harness thats already in the car and then the white plug would plug into the male connectors on the LED lens assembly?

Hi,

I PM you about the connectors, I am going to change my original wiring to these connectors as soon as you ship them to me, the connectors you have are 100% waterproof, mine are not. I was going to silicone the pins and that would make them very hard to remove them later. Thanks for sourcing out these connections.

yeai never thought about that route. all we would need to do is find a dealer outside the US to order them from or see if a local parts dept from a dealer here in the US can order them.

The entire mirror, each side is $450 They come in 3 parts, the signal lens, the mirror assembly, the UNPAINTED cover. Actually it's cheaper by $100 to buy it from the guy on ebay, because his already come painted. From Canada it's going to cost you $900 for the set. The good part is that they already come pre-wired with the signal lens inside the mirror assembly.

Thanks. I actually paid the dealer an overnight fee because I was sick of waiting. I paid $13 for two 10 mm bolts and two clips. But the satisfaction of putting the lights on was worth it. I still spent under 150 on the whole mod. I have pics of the relay location as promised. I didn't take pics of the wires because once you open up the bottom of the splash guard its right there and obvious. So if anyone reads this and is wondering where they are, pop the two little clips and walla. This drastically changed the looks of the xar and I am very happy with it. I went yellow bulbs instead of overlays but the color from the bulb is rather unnoticed until turned on. I may go with overlays soon. Pics to come shortly.

I'm going to "go on a limb here" and say yes they will. The XV mirror setup is exactly the same as the Impreza. I've PM'd Powe6 for a set of his harnesses, and will use Zurcaled12's parts list to source the signals, covers, and bits.

This is a GREAT thread!!!!!

Thanks so much gents!

Yes, in my previous threads I stated that the XV , Impreza 2.0i and the 14' Forester ALL use the same mirrors.

That's the spirit! Give "momma a little love too."

Patiently awaiting a response from Power6 on harnesses.

Hey Zurcaled12,

I wonder how close a color match the unpainted, "tan" covers are to my Desert Khaki? I'd love it if they were close enough not to paint. That would be nice..

Anyway, I'm just waiting on goodies to "join the added lighting safety" club. Looking forward to adding some more useful mods to the XV.

Edit: Thanks again for posting all this info too! Very nice of you.

Anytime , no problem. The covers look like a Desert Khaki color, but I can't say for sure, but they are nice and glossy too. I've actually gotten compliments on the way it looks now unpainted. it's like a virgin plastic color before any actual color is applied. Take a look at these rear trunk garnish color it's exactly the same as the mirrors.
