They can order you one, but it can take some time. Our WRX took about 4 months to come in and our base Impreza took about 5 months.

OP was in your position sept of last year. There were a few 5spd in pa, no one was giving a good deal so I custom ordered the car I wanted from a dealer in ny. Car arrived first week of december. factory order is the way to go to get what you want just make sure you pick a good dealership to work with.

If you feel your CVT shift, it means you need a new CVT.

You realize a continuously variable transmission does not have traditional gears... Right? Car manufacturers like them because they can gear them to keep Rpms in the most efficient range for EPA standards.

I do realize this lol. I like the smoothness of it vs a 5spd in a non performance car. Obviously I think performance vehicles should be a manual.

Same boat for me a few years ago. There were literally 3 used models in Indiana. I ended up flying to Cleveland, OH to get mine. It was a pretty fun car... If I hadn't needed the space for more gear, I'd probably still have it today :/

In what country are you referring to? The first STi in the USA (2004 model year) had DCCD.

Funny that, I am just now putting up my 2004 2.5XT Forester for sale, only 57K miles on it. Granted, I may not be within your radius! It'll be in the classifieds some time today.

^^^ I was referring to finding a brand new Forester with 5 speed. It's getting harder each year. They don't even sell the XT in manual anymore, only auto

Because standard transmission is the way of the dinosaur and cannot keep up with the new generation of paddle and smart CVT.

I hope that true standard transmissions never go away. They have, in my experience, been much more reliable over the life of the car. They are also much more fun to drive than paddle shifters.

I bought my '13 2.0 hatch in September of '12. I didn't have much of a hard time getting a stick. My issue was finding the trim options I wanted at first in the color I wanted. I've always had black subarus and wanted another but as soon as I found out that tan was the only option if I didn't want a Sport, I went with DGM. I'm not very picky but 5 speed was my first requirement and that wasn't a problem at all. Granted, they didn't have one on their lot but after hiting about 5 other dealerships I got a great price and the car I wanted was shipped in within a few weeks.

The other HUGE reason for going manual is that the CVT is like a 80/20 split or something outrageous and the 5 speed is a true 50/50 split. I wanted AWD not FWD.

It's just a 2.0i, just get the cvt, it's a better match for the car anyway. It's only a commuter car. The CVT gets better fuel mileage.

5-speed is a LONG way away from 50/50 split.

Low powered auto's are awful to drive cvt or otherwise. I also worry about longevity with automatic transmissions. Standards are considerably more reliable (assuming you know how to operate one) and much easier to fix in the event that you do experience an issue.

I wish they'd make driving a standard a requirement for obtaining your license here. They could sell bus passes in the same building for all those people who fail to grasp this concept.

Only rotational speed is varied, not torque.

This. No point on a 5psd in a non performance commuter/Econ car.
