Where to source stainless header flanges???
Like the title says, I am looking for a source to purchase a set of SS head flanges for a header project that I want to start. If anyone knows of a company/person that can sell them I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance.

Not sure what kind of quality your looking for. But I've been having flanges cnc machined for myself for the past 2 years out of 1/2" 304 stainless. I know of some people that sell mild steel 3/8" lasered flanges but nobody that i know of sells/makes quality flanges like these.

kmurphy, what is the cost of CNCing the flanges compared to laser cuttting them? I may want to do something like that but am curious of the cost differential.
Thanks! Ben |

For me, its actually cheaper to do them cnc instead of lasered. Material costs for 1/2" bar stock around here are to do these flanges come in at $9-10 a flange.
I got quotes in qtys of about 25 flanges anywhere from what i pay (secret) to about $60 per flange. The laser place I usually use for all my sheet metal and cnc bent stuff was highly priced for some reason. Plus I much prefer the quality and look of cnc'd flanges |

In my experience laser is quite a bit cheaper then water. Water is a lot slower and you're paying for time..
If you just need one set but them from kmurphy. J |

I have a question, who do you guys weld the flanges to the pipes?
Where I use to work, we use to have Weld preps to well stuff into the flanges. The weld prep was usually .020" from the hole, and the size of the weld prep was .040" wide .040" deep full radius. |

The last time I has looking for flanges I had a hard time finding 1/2" thick stainless flanges with 1.75" ports. I don't like butting the tube to the face of the flange. I prefer to sink the tube up in the flange a bit then weld the outside and the inside. It also makes it a little easier when mocking up the exhaust system. I have my own flanges waterjet so I get exactly what I want. CNC flanges look cool, but the simple water jet flanges work just as well.
