Default wideband sensor placement????

ok, i've searched but have got mixed results. i recently purchased an aem wideband gauge. today i am dropping off my dp to have the bung welded to my catless invidia dp. now the question i have is, where should i have them weld the bung? i've heard both cases (close to the turbo, and not close) i just need a clear answer. where should this thing go....

thanks and sorry if it's a newbish question, i just don't want to burn up this sensor nor i do i want it to read in-accurately.

edit....just found some people saying install it 24"-36" away from the turbo. Does this sound right?

Yeah, that's about right. Further away you get from the engine, the more delayed the reading will be, but obviously, further away from the turbo, the less heat will be in the exhaust.

On the early turbo legacies the O2 bung is right after the turbo, about 6"-7". I've been running my WB there for a while and haven't had any problems.

I'd say 24" is probably a good number to shoot for.

most of the setups have i have seen are on top of the bell mouth for the turbo inches away from the turbo..... been doing like that for years don't have problems unless there is a bad tune on them

yea, after talking to Rick from IAG, i had them weld the bung about 6" from the turbo (on top of the bellmouth).

I run mine about 12" from the turbo. I've had it there for almost a year with no problems. Another thing to note, make sure that the bung is welded somewhere between the 10 and 2 o'clock position on the DP. If it's below this, there is a chance of condensation building up on the sensor and causing problems.
