I ordered my WRX on 8/20 through Bret at Subaru of Loveland (Colorado).
Bret emailed me a copy of the order (with VON and Allocation: 201211) a couple days after.

silver ice metallic 2013 Subaru WRX 5 door/hatchback limited
with
boost gauge
short throw shifter and upgraded bushings
auto-dim mirror with homelink
turbo heat shield
navigation
7 year/100K miles extended service

$31,799 + TTL ($500 down to order)

I sent a few emails over the weeks checking on the status of my order, but was never overly pushy about it nor complained. My dealer had hoped to have some info for me by the beginning of November. November first they were still unable to provide me with any information. The owner, Chris, contacted me and apologized that they had no information for me, and informed me my order could be in that week or next year; SoA wasn't providing them with the car or any information about when it might arrive. Chris then offered me a loaner car to use free of charge until my order does arrive. Subaru of Loveland provided me with a 2013 Impreza (had about 300 miles on it when I picked it up). I'm disappointed about my WRX order, but having a new car to drive around in the interim and the quality of customer service of my dealer have left me satisfied and I assume the WRX will be worth the wait.

Hope this info is helpful.

what! I need a loaner!
My tacoma has 233,000 miles on it, and the valve cover gasket is leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold like a waterfall.

My dealer would probably laugh at me.

They currently do not follow them, my dealerships manager is on the ordering committee for SNE . One major issue is they wait for enough cars to batch order to reduce number of boats shipping to SNE and SDC ports. ( all could be bulls*** lines, but dealer, SNE, and SOA gave same answers all separately )
Yeah, I was originally told by my dealer as well that they didn't use VON's either. Seems like you got the run around on your vehicle as well. SNE's ordering process seems like it was totally inaccurate and not reliable. I was told I had a VIN back in September and the car was on it's way. Then after 5 weeks, they still didn't have any new information for me so that's when I contacted SNE. They told me that the car wasn't produced and that I did not have a VIN. Then they gave me a VON that the dealer should have been using.

It seems like SNE dealers thought they were in their own little world with their ordering process. It either was not the correct way of doing things (and they were supposed to be using VON's all along and no one was informed), or it sucked so bad that SNE made them adopt SOA's ordering process, or both lol.

Either way, I seem to be getting better and more accurate information from my contact within SNE and there looks to be light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm in the same boat as you, it frustrates the hell out of me that I can't get accurate information from my dealer, and apparently my dealer can't get accurate information from SNE, or SOA.

I have a vin, and my car has been shown as "In Transit" for multiple weeks now. The LEO LEADER just dropped off a bunch of hatches at the local port. I called the dealer to ask if he had any new information and he still has no idea if my car was on that boat or not. Am I crazy in thinking the dealer should know this?

Original 2012 Order Date: 4/25
Converted to 2013: 8/15 (Receipt from Dealer, shows 7/26, given to District Rep)
VON Unknown (SoNE)
VIN Recieved 11/5

DGM Limited WRX Hatch
No port or factory installed add-ons.

Dealer had it show up on subarunet back in the end of Sep. beginning of Oct. with no VIN. He said the VIN doesn't show until they actually "buy" the car. Told me that their owner buy's all cars on their allocations outright rather than paying fees to subaru to keep cars on the lot.

I was told I would have the car by the end of Oct. as it is usually about 2 weeks once it shows up in their system. When the car didn't arrive, he revised and said I'd have it by thanksgiving. Called today and he said I'd have it by Christmas.

Going on 7 months now. And now it may be 8? WTFingF Subaru?

Have you tried to contact SOA or SNE at all? Seems like your dealer effed with you on this. I smell something fishy here. Definintely contact SOA/SNE to see if they can track your order status for you.

I called SOA a few months ago, they told me that the district sales rep did in fact have my order and it was considered a top priority.

Sounds like you ordered around the same time with me. I think it's very unlikely we'll get our car in December. However I'm holding out hope for Janurary or early Febuary delivery though.

According to SOA, there was a large amount of ordering "fraud" especially with wrx and STi models, as well as SDC and SNE not following SOA policies for ordering cars. They explained although they cannot force either SDC or SNE to adopt their policies, they were strong arming them to adopt SOA policies, or risk losing ability to order cars shipped from Japan. As of now, SNE is no longer allowing special orders, and they will be reviewing ordering of vehicles and making needed changes to correct issues noted.

Btw, how did you get a contact at SNE? I've tried, all I have is the sales manager from the dealership is on their ordering committee, so I have to get info through him or SOA. When SNE finally admitted to an ordering snafu SOA offered me a cash back incentive, and SNE gave me no Von, as they stated vehicle was already built, loaded on a ship, and was en route. That was 10/8.....

We'll have to see if you'll get your car next month. I'm wondering if you actually see on their subarunet says that your order ETA: Month of December at all? Or did you just take what they told you?

nah the new car sales manager called her district rep @ SOA to ask a lot of questions (about the cars101.com post regarding delays) and also to inquire about mine.

Hung up and said "month of december". Followed that up by sharing with me that dude informed her of two ships in december carrying a crap ton of wrx / sti / brz's.

Armed with these facts, i'm confident.

So no comfirmation on the system lol? You should really stop by the dealership and ask to see the status on the order yourself or ask them to take a screen shot and send it to you.

no i was there during all this.

subarunet still doesn't show a VIN, and only shows the "month of december" ETA not a fixed ETA yet

Sure do! Here you go... (Cell phone pics, sorry)

(Shown w/armrest extender. It's great but makes for an awkward reach to the heated seat switches.)

(Shown w/STi Duracon shift knob & All Weather floor mats)

(Shown w/Rear Cargo Tray. This is super nice. The material is between rubber and plastic... somehow it's grippy and stuff doesn't slide.)

Grocery getter. (For the unfamiliar, that's just a tether strap for the child seat)

Finally, happened last evening.

ok that's what I was wondering if you saw it where it shows you Month of December. I'm happy for you then. I hope your car is on one of those ship and hopefully they'll pipeline me one of those WRX Premium on those ships coming in December haha.

WoW such a sexy thing!!!! AAAAh now i want my car soooo bad. i got it with the SPT exhaust and the STI exhaust finisher so that @ss is going to look so great. I'm glad I opted out of the armrest extender than. I didn't think it was useful somehow. Thanks so much for the pics.

One question: Do you notice any turbo lag?
Two Question: Can I use one of your picture on my facebook? not the one with your license plate ofcourse.

You're very welcome. If you ever find the original armrest lacking, I understand installation of the extender later on is a piece of cake.

Yep. There's turbo lag no question about it. But on the other hand when you're just putting around town below 3k (out of boost) the car still has great usable power similar to your average 2.5L Toyota Camry. It's just that once you get past 3k, hold on. I don't mind it, it's actually fun for me... a unique characteristic of a turbo. I understand a Stage 1 tune smooths it out, but I have no interest. This car is a great little package out of the box.

Yeah sure go ahead. Here's a link to the rear end pic with my plate pre-blurred http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...04_140554b.jpg

Haha thank you kind sir!! Hmm that sucks about the turbo delay. But from what I read from the previous model (2012) that isn't actually the turbo lagging but the way the ECU is set up. You still getting some boost (usually below 10psi) below 3k rpm. I was wondering if they tuned it better this year but I guess still same thing. Oh well I can live with that. I am in same boat as you and will not be giving it any performance mods for awhile. I've been driving a acura with Vtec engine so having boost at 3k is better than not having a puny boost until 4.5k rpm haha.

I left a couple messages for SNE on their general number and someone called me back. The first thing he asked was how I got the number lol. I'd share his information, but I would rather not without permission.

Ordered my WRX last night from Van Subaru in Kansas City, MO. Silver 5-door as base as base can get. No point in paying dealer prices on anything "extra" when you can spend less on quality aftermarket parts. They told me to expect delivery around March 2013.

Already have my complete 3 way active sound system waiting in box at home. Pre order some wheels, suspension upgrades, and some Katzkin leather seating and I'm done for a while.

i dunno about the WRX but the new STI stock vs. stage 1 AP flash, all else stock, is a completely different car. like, not even close. driveability, fuel mileage and overall performance are improved to varying degrees. i could never ever in good conscience recommend not doing it and it's hard to believe how terrible the car performs with that stock tune vs. that flash. like a whole different car.

but hey, that's an STI, like i said i dunno about the WRX.
