Congrats, E. Long deserved. But I'm still jealous because mine isn't here yet! haha

The only thing is I never made an agreement on price with them. I bought my last car from them with no problems and have had a good relationship with them. The dealer told me not to worry about price when I placed the order and that he would do right by me. So I don't want to piss them off and be told msrp or nothing when it comes in.

Hopefully they at least put in your order to get you in line. That way if a car that matches your order shows up in New England, I believe they would get it put in their allocation unless someone else with that same order has been waiting longer. Regardless, give them a call. It can't hurt. The dealer may get a call, but who cares at this point, maybe then they will give you some answers.

Where in CT did you order if you don't mind me asking? I went looking at a dealer a couple years ago in CT and they just rubbed me the wrong way.
I ordered from quality Subaru in wallingford.

Was the last car this difficult to get? Negotiate the price before you place the order and sign on it. I hope you didn't put down a non-refundable deposit.

Yeah, in hindsight I definitely should have been more adamant. I asked to talk price and the dealer said "Don't worry about that now, let's just get the order in and we'll work out the price when the car gets here" I only put down a $100 deposit as opposed to the normal $500. And they told me if I ended up deciding not to get it or circumstances changed they would refund it since it was a wrx they would be able to sell it.

Throughout this whole ordeal the dealers been nice enough and hasn't tried to jerk me around. He constantly apologizes for the situation, I'm not really worried about that aspect. When I bought my current car from them it was one they had on the lot (it had arrived that day and hadn't been initialized yet). They gave me a good price, about $500 below invoice at the time.

I'm mostly looking for peace of mind, I want to here from Subaru that the order is in, and its expected to arrive in Oct, Nov... whatever. If I have a realistic date I can also plan my finances accordingly. Right now I'm like a dog waiting for his owner to arrive home from work and every time a car drives by (or the dealer calls) I get my hopes up only to be crushed.

Anyone else been watching vehicle delivery trucks as they appear on the highway? As if your vehicle might be on that truck? Just me?

No but I've been checking the online inventory list of every dealer in the state to make sure my car doesn't show up on one of them

Give SoA a call. Tell them you're happy w/ your dealer and explain the entire situation. Tell them what info you're looking for. I cant imagine anything worse than simple disappointment could/would come of it.

So I just got off the phone with SOA. They called the dealer to find out about the order. As it turns out, under SoNE, things DO work differently and the rep at SOA told me they dont have much control over how the car allocations work. He assured me that a district sales manager was working on my order, which they don't typically do and that I would get the car as quickly as possible. However, he did tell me what I feared, in that I DONT ACTUALLY HAVE A SPECIAL ORDER PLACED.

He told me that the dealer probably chose to do that since it would take longer than searching for an allocation. Although I wonder if that's necessarily true if my order had been placed the day the order banks had opened.

So yeah, other than confirming one of my fears, they didn't do much to alleviate any concerns. They were polite though, and I didn't have to wait too long on the phone so at least there's that.

I ordered mine in NY(SDC) on 4/17. Just today I got my ETA of early November. If I get it when they say it is, it will be 6.5 months of waiting for me. This is only after I wrote them yesterday that I would cancel my order if they cant tell me when im getting the car.

So yea... SDC and SoNE gets random cars and matches them to orders.

I guess the question now is... are you feeling lucky?

Haha, nope! I'm actually now worrying about any blowback from calling SOA. I hope I didn't piss off the dealer. I did make it a point to tell them (twice) that I wasn't complaining about the dealer and they were treating me well.

Just got an update from my sales guy. They have a VIN and should have the car within 7-10 days. SWP STi sedan with nav, so those of you who also ordered nav around the same time, hopefully you all will start hearing news soon as well. Note: I ordered on 8/8 and I'm within Subaru of New England which operates a little differently from SOA.

Hi All,
After lurking for about a month I decided to register haha. I placed an order for a 2013 SWP limited STi sedan on 8/15 at about 530pm. No word yet on an ETA except "November", but the dealership is saying it could happen by october (which I doubt). It's my first stick car so I figure i'll spend some time learning how to shift in the parking lot for a while

Dude, you're the customer. Your dealer has been less than awesome. You have nothing to feel bad or worry about. At this point even if you give your dealer a few one-finger salutes all you're out is time. You could walk into any other dealer and place a "real" order w/ them. I think you've gone far far too easy on them.....

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Placed my order with Green Subaru in Springfield, IL on 09/8. 2013 Premium WRX Sedan SWP with Nav and a few other options. Received a VON instantly but the order status was immediately placed on hold. Dealer contacted SoA and they said it will move out of hold on the following Monday. I didn't want to harass the dealer too much, so I waited until today to shoot the dealer an email. He said the order is progressing and my ETA is December***8230; Other than that everything went smooth at order. However, the dealer spooked me when he said the price we agreed to is subject to change. He pointed to the MSRP and Invoice price which would in turn affect my price. I agreed, but had him write the price we agreed to on the order form.

I wouldn't worry about it changing too much. Even the dealer's internal order tracker says "see sticker upon arrival for final price" or something like that. Covering butts and stuff.

I figured he was just covering his butt. Lucky for me, with the amount of information that is available on the internet, we have a lot more power at our fingertips. We can easily see if the MSRP or Invoice price has changed.

Speaking of which, it would be awesome if somebody had a subscription to ImportGenius.com. Looks like we can get some great information from that site.

Right after posting that last message, I got my new ETA of 10/13!!! I ordered a CBS WRX limited hatch with SPT and STS on 8/15, and my original ETA, like everyone else, was NOVEMBER. I DID receive a VIN with this new update as well.

This update in the system just happened today. I hope everyone else receives good news soon as well!

While you are waiting, get a Manual Honda/Toyota/Nissan for practice, that way if you burn the clutch at beginning, burn it in some car else. I am not sure if our GR gets easier to shift but back to GD the Flywheel is just too light. Never drove Sti but have experience with 2007 Impreza 5speed: That's when I am new to stick, and Impreza 5speed is HARD to feel the clutch contact point and once you find it the clutch padel movement is very short.

But later on G35 6speed is totally different. Clutch is much heavier however I can always feel where the clutch snap onto flywheel. And padel travel is not that critical compare with Impreza.

Don't use a VW or BMW for practice, they are easier and smooth, especially VW Passat. And once you adopt to Germany manual, it's hard to get used to JDM manual imo.

Anyway you are about to getting a Sti so Congratulations!

Practice makes perfect

I don't think I've seen another 8/15 order get a VIN and date yet!!!

I'll be watching my phone all day tomorrow.
