Default Texas Roadhouse uses child labor!! w/ CN

This past wednesday me and some co-workers went across the street after work to Texas roadhouse for some dinner after work. We walked in, told a girl how many of us there were, and she said our hostess would be right with us. About then a girl (not more than 12 years old) came up to us, with all our menus and a plate of bread, and lead us to our table...and took our drink order. A 12 YEAR OLD. She was official too, with a Texas Roadhouse T-shirt and all. It was a friggin kid...and we were all dumbstruck by this whole scenario. A real, of age waitress showed up with our ordered drinks, but still...a 12 (or close) year old kid sat us down and took our drink orders. This happen to anyone else at this chain?

C/N: A 12 year old kid took my beer order at Texas roadhouse.

In GA you don't have to be 18 or anything like that to work. You can get a work permit if youre under 18 (or they just hire you anyway), and its not uncommon to see people working for their parents in their stores/restaurants.

Are you sure she couldn't have been 15 or 16 and you, in your ancient age, can no longer tell the difference?

1. I'm 23.

2. This was a kid. She barely came up to my waist.

3. No, it wasn't a midgit.

How as the food there? The first TX Roadhouse opened up around here, haven't been there yet.

Maybe it was the manager's daugher or something and they were short handed?

here in texas, Texas Roadhouse is just pretty O.K.

as for the hostess, 3 things:
A. probably older than she looked
2. you didnt ASK her did you? so you are just assuming?
D. i think the law is 18 to serve teh booze, but 15 to take an order.

i had to be 18 before i could start waiting tables (due to booze laws).

The booze laws are different in every state.

Some have 18 to serve 21 to pour, some have 18 to pur and serve (PA) and others are 21 for everything... just depends on the state.

The hostess was probably older than she looked, you can work at 15, and I believe there are exceptions when it is a family owned business.

I just moved here to Colorado, where we went to eat at the roadhouse. I am a Texan native (and as soon as I can, i'm getting out of this frozen hell).

She was absolutely a kid, no more than 13 years of age. It may have been some publicity stunt lik "take your kid to work day", but none of asked her what her age was or what she was doing there of course...it would make much more sense if we did that.

I also used to live in San Diego, and have been to TJ quite a few times. Also, *shudder*. Now THATS a rough town.

i was doing that at that age, waiting on tables by 15 bartending by 16... (godfather ownd the joint. free food to cops can get you alot of things in a small town. everyone just assumed that i was his son and that things like that was ok.)

no one ever made a big deal about it really. i served cops on their breaks so i dont think they minded too much.

gotta love family business.

My younger brother is in high school and works at a Texas Roadhouse. I believe you have to be 14 year old to work there (something like 8 hours or less per week).
