Best Tire/Wheel measurements for wagon
I'm looking into getting a set of new rims and tires for my 02 WRX wagon and since ive heard of issues with rubbing on the fenders i was wondering what would be the best balence of rim size/offset and tire size to keep agressive look yet some decent ride comfort and prevent road rashing.

That article is only for 48 offset tires and is very true.
Get wheels with an offset of 53 and run 225s. 04 STis work nice, many of the SSRs can be had in the 50+ offset range too. It is that easy. No rubbing. |

^^^motion seconded...with caveats.
I personally run Prodrive P1 (ET53), with Michelin PS(just ordering PS2s), 225x45/17, with no significant rubbing. I phrase it that way because I have seen a couple of rub marks in the fender wells presumably resulting from RallyX exuberance; no problems, and no rubbing in normal use. There are a number of threads buried in this forum discussing just how far people have pushed the limits of <wheel size / offset / tire size> on wagons that might give you additional info...or at least opinions One thing to be aware of: different makes/models of tires with the same nominal size can vary significantly in actual total width, and this can be a critical issue when you start pushing the limits of wheel/tire combos. |
