wagon tire fitment size and offset
i have been looking and looking and can't seem to find a straight answer, i am also aware that all vehicles are not the same and springs sag, people drive differently and yada yada..
i am looking for advice on whether or not i can run a 255/45/17 with a 17x9 +44 offset wheel on my 2003 wagon? i have sedan front fenders and i am ok with rolling the rears.. i just don't want to have to deal with tons of rubbing and having to stop before i enter a drive way!?! i currently am running a set of 2" lowering tein springs on kyb struts and other than the sedan fenders no other body/suspension mods. i will be adding brembos at the time of the wheel swap. i daily drive it and on weekend take it to the mountains for some spirited driving. any advice or knowledge on the subject is appreciated if any one has pics of a similar set up or a set up they would suggest over this, please fire away

255/45 is too tall.
you'll definitely need to roll the rears, possibly a slight pull depending on how low you are. if you're still running wagon arms up front you probably wont need to roll, but again - this depends on how low you actually are. there are stickies....use them. |

I specifically run KYB AGX with JDM STi Pinks with 245-40-17 on 17x8 +35 offset and I think you will be extremely close (too close for my blood) to rubbing on the struts. My own setup gives me about two fingers clearance from both the spring perch and shaft when the car is at rest.
Fender clearance will also be a problem as stated above but I worry more about clearance from the strut as the only way to get more clearance with what you want to run is spacers which most will tell you is a no-no...actually you could also go with a lower offset but that can stress things as well (increased wheel bearing wear...hell I have extra wheel bearings sitting in my garage waiting for my current ones to start failing because I like to run this setup for Auto-x). You might want to contact Wheeldude...they have the knowledge on this topic. |
