Default was thinking of going turbo

i was 100% positive that i was going to turbo my 2.5rs. but after reading the last post, it seems like there is a lot of negative comments on this idea. i wanted a turbo kit from larry, but you all know that situation. i'm probably going to go turbo anyway. forcedairtech.com has a good low boost kit at a pretty affordable price, 3800 with a top mount intercooler and almost everything you'd need, minus tranny and exhaust and a couple others. what kind of numbers should i expect with a kit from FAT and aem short ram intake and apexi n1 catback. oh, by the way, i'm looking at the stage II kit. the only difference between stage I and II is an intercooler. they both come with a stage III-to4e turbo, 2 1/8" uppipe, 2 1/2" downpipe, high flow cat, intercooler and all piping, all oil supply lines, fuel pump, rrfpr, high performance sequential BOV, voltage clamp, piggy back computer system to control ignition timing, boost gauge, digital air fuel mixture gauge, high performance tial wastegate, and k&n filter.

I have the stage II kit (plus many extras). low 14's is what you can expect from the kit, though you will need a clutch @ 5psi. Most people go with either the CM stage III or the ACT.

I've run a 13.1 @ 104 untuned w/91 octane with the kit, at 14.5psi. We are heading out this week to do some more runs...

like 1500 plus installation. The addition the bottom end being built has allowed me to safely go from 8psi to 14psi. BUT, I had to have the tranny and TEC-II in place to continue to add that margin of safety.

With my '99 2.5 @ 13.5lbs of boost and tuned I ran a 13.15 at pomona. . . Nothing like the torque of the 2.5 over the WRX!

That it is.... Got the HKS EVC V in it now, run 12psi daily, crank it up to 17 psi no problem whenever I feel the need to destroy anyone and scrable mode holds 20psi for race gas nights....

We should have some nice new numbers tomorrow night...

People, just remember, you can't run alot of boost on stock internals. I can't stress that enough... Just because Kastle is running 14.5psi daily does'nt mean you can...
Kastle- do you have a link do where you got your internals?

Steve- here's most of the kits available.... hopefully a mod will add this to the FAQ so I don't have to keep pasting it

SPO/AVO
www.spomotorsports.com
They only offer 1 kit… $4400
(they have added another kit, will edit later)

Forced Air Tech(FAT)
www.forcedairtech.com/IMPREZA-RS-2-5.html
www.vividracing.com
Stage 1- $2994.99
Stage 2- $3794.99
Stage 3- $4294.99
Stage 4- $4494.99… Twin-turbo set-up, had problems in the past, not sure if they are worked out yet.

I won't say where the internals were obtained from because I won't suggest anyone EVER buy from them.

Just don't try 20 psi on 9.5 compression like I did

I ran 14 psi and low 13's forever without problems but got greedy for more on half a tank of 100 octane

I have the Ludespeed stage II kit which Im guessing that Tom isnt going to be making anymore. Im currently running 5.5 psi with ACT clutch. I ran a 13.401 at 5.5 psi with 104 octane. I couldnt see spending more money for something like a TEC II, Rods, pistons plus installation for 4 tenths at the track. thousands and thousands of dollars for what? 4 tenths?

Doesnt seem worth it.

Just my .02
