They're all the same... Now then, if it were a VF30/40/46, then sure I can see your point.

Not really the exact same. But close, hence the VF48 thread, There is a vf39 thread, so this is for those of us who use the newer turbo.

Im sorry, I saw your car was a 04 STI and could not grasp why someone would swap the 39 for the 48 when the gains are min. Again, my bad.

Back on topic.

hey guys im trying to do a vf48 build in my 02 wrx this spring im aiming for 280-290 whp with 20 lbs. of boost, i plan on running
vf48
08 sti 560 injectors
255 fuel pump
fmic with hks ssqv bov
gms turbo inlet and after maf hose
short ram intake
full catless exhaust
lightned crank pulley
and im thinking about tgv deletes and the intake spacer.

My question is will these injectors do the job or should i look into 650cc i dont plan on going bigger and was told the 560 are fine. Also are the tgv deletes and the intake spacer worth it? And are there any other little parts i should think about getting i have a mbc i can use and i see a lot of people using the ebcs from grimmspeed.

560cc injectors will work but thier duty cycles will be high. i think u'd be off with bigger injectors if u can afford'em. IMO, tgv deletes and the intake spacer go the same way... if u can afford them go for it. all that little stuff adds up

^^^ thanks and im sure the 560 would be fine but i saw a guy with a 2.0 with a vf39 set up and he had some nice numbers like 282 whp but he had 650cc at 97%. What decides what size injectors you need?

Ah Forgot to update after my tune. My Setup:

EJ205
VF48
STi TMIC
Gimmick Turbo Inlet
06 WRX Injectors
Walbro 255
GMBCS
STi UP
Invidia Catless DP wrapped
P&L HiFlo Intake

Put down 274whp/248wtq on P&L's dyno. On an 86 degree day. Which reads about 165/165 stock IIRC. Stock tranny and clutch, definitely pulls.

Default 2003 Wrx

I just completed this setup last summer.

2003 WRX
VF48
AEM intake
Pink injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
Full Prodrive exhaust system with Stromung exhaust tip
Yimi Sport tuned

274whp
254tq

It was 99 degrees outside!

Just added xS-Power TMIC. I was running the OEM TMIC when it was tuned by Yimi.

Car pulls longer with the larger TMIC

id say mine is a "no name" ebay TMIC

but then again, thats the one and only piece i regret. that one weak link cost me ~10HP b/c it would heat soak so fast. Jorge (P&L) tuner had to tune my car down alittle b/c he didnt like what he was seeing out of me "css" TMIC.

short story:
CSS started out on Ebay, then became a NASIOC vendor but couldnt cut it, and now last i heard they are out of business.

I am also running one of Jorge's conservative tunes because of the heatsoak with my '04 STi TMIC. Wish I could afford a bigger TMIC

do you have anything to prevent heat soak? will a turbo heat shield help out at all, but other then the heat soak your css tmic is doing pretty good with the vf48?

i have a modified stock heat shield over my turbo
and yes besides heat soak it's fine. originally i had to clean up the ports on the TMIC. (just to level them out and clean them up alittle)
