You may be on to something there. He's neither moving closer to (which would induce what's known as a "blueshift" to astrophysicists) or farther from (inducing "redshift") empty, but has somehow gone light years at a 90 degree angle to empty, thereby causing the first documented proof of "purpleshift", and a wicked case of parallax error on the gauge.

I like thread subject lines that are completely worthless.
And the answer is NO, the light is not supposed to come on until you run out of gas. |

On a serious note, while the light may be on a bit early according to the fuel gauge level, it is not too far out of range. The car I currently have, while waiting for my ordered 2013 Impreza, has the low fuel light come on when the fuel level is about 3 gallons left on the tank.

could the light be right (indicating low fuel) and the gauge be wrong (indicating 1/4 tank??

Thanks guys. I am gona read the manual to see about the same sensor thing. I do trust rhe light more than the gauge bc my gauge doesnt reset wen i turn the car off/on like my others (temp, tacho, ect.)

The fuel gauge doesn't do that.

Subaru's fuel gauges move super slow. I'm not sure if the point is to get rid of the Wild swings from going up and down hills but it definitely works that way.
