that definately sucks but that doesn't look like a closed road at all like the post says. It's a shame that that happened but people have to understand that those cars aren't indestructable. Anyway, I hope everone was okay.

Wow. Impressive job! You're friend gets 10 extra points for not leaving on panel on the car unharmed!
We should get a "how quick will insurance go up by x" post going. Paul G. |

The passenger (signed up to post) says it wasn't a closed road and everyone was OK. STi+Tarmac tires on dirt/gravel = Not good results. That last section is where they transitioned from dirt to pavement. I would venture a guess that dirt and pebbles were embedded on the carcass of the tire itself (it's a fairly soft compound) so there was no traction at the transition. Driver/owner: 22, passenger that took the pics: 19. Insurance rates +1. --kC |

Oh, you meant the driver not driving safely? C'mon... no one blamed the tires! So I had to!
(If you read the post I linked to in OT, they say we went out of control just after we came off the dirt, or something to that effect. Ever seen an Azienis fresh off the dirt after driving for a little while on it on a fairly warm day? It looks just like I described) |

Sticky Hoosier autocross tires, just off the course onto the rocks/dirt/sand of the "pit" area. <edit....I almost called dibs on this for a track car. If it had happened in New England/New York, I probably would have. I don't have the time to go to Illinois.> jack Last edited by Jack; 11-18-2003 at 09:06 AM. |

Owwwww.
Those wheels are still okay, though. They must be solid as a rock. You probably would've been better off landing in the water on only one side of the car. |

No reason to be driving on an non closed dirt road at 80mph. I really wish these young kids would be more responsible. Not only do alot of them do stupid stuff that endagers others but all young men get rammed in insurance premiums because of what some morons do. I know if I had an STI I would baby the thing as I know I was paying for it. I wonder how many of these crashed STIs/WRXs were being paid for by Mommy and Daddy. Just a little venting. Despite being stupid, it's good to hear they were Ok. Hopefully the driver won't be quite so daring in the future. |
