Default local pulley install

hey guys i was wondering where i should get a lightweight pulley installed.
I was thinking any performance shop such as RG, drivehard, advance, teamwork, ajr or a dealership. Or any home mechanics with torque specs and a wrench wanna help me out? I think RR is overkill for something so simple. let me know your thoughts on the places i listed and any other recommendations. thanks guys

But to answer your question, you answered it in your first post in terms of who could do it.

Or just install it yourself. Takes less than 30 minutes if you have the right size socket and a long breaker bar.

I don't really feel any noticeable difference on my car though.

lol have you felt the stock som bitch.....its heavy as hell...like 7 lbs lol....and its ugly as sin....

it wont really get you much real gains though...maybe a bit of throttle response...but it'll look pretty.....

if you still want to do it let me know and i'll give you a hand, it'll only take about 20 minutes....i live in langley....let me know

ps aspect and tora....have u tried LW crank pulley or are you going by common nasioc consensus?

people spend just as much on other cosmetic engine mods oil caps and belt covers.....so why the hate for the pulley...lol

i don't know my thinking is reduce drivetrain loss, it'll be the same as removing the spare tire. or running smaller diameter wheels/tires. I'm not expecting anything close to the gains from EL headers over UEL but that's another can of worms. esp because the car is NA little mods make a bigger difference then they do on turbo cars. johnson or jeff do you guys have a breaker bar/torque down specs?

I have access to a breaker bar and torque wrench but have no idea how to pull off the old one and how much tension to put on the belts and bolt. If anyone has specs please post that also = ). This is assuming i actually end up buying one.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put up the pulley's i've looked at agency power, cobb, perrin, medieval and groupA.
Any experience with any of these? i'll likely end up getting the groupA or medieval since they're the cheapest at about 100

i plan on getting a lightened pulley set but its at the bottom of my priorities as i hear gains are only measurable by the butt dyno.

if your car is stock, you might want to save the money towards a bigger mod?

Torque spec is between 94 ft-lbs to 133 ft-lbs depending on which instruction you followed.

http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/down...IMING_BELT.pdf <-- Page 17 has the reinstallation info.

I cheated with the installation by cranking the engine with the coil unplugged. I won't really recommend this method as your car should be new enough that the bolt isn't ceased yet.

I also have the Group A crank pulley. Even though it is quite a bit lighter than stock I didn't felt any real gain (it is said the gain on a turbo is less than that of a NA car).

yeah besides boring the hell out of the block and intake there isn't much more for NA lol cams aren't an option as there isn't any tried and tested reliable setup available. car is rock solid with konis and rce yellows. sways/endlinks will come as soon as i find a good set used. Wheels and tires have been done and have been aligned w/ a bit more negative camber. There are holes in my trunk, but it adds to the funkyness of driving a sube/ plus appearance isn't anywhere near the top of my priorities. I've managed to weaken the car by putting uel headers on but it makes for a more enjoyable driving experience. Might toy with phenolic intake manifold spacers after i do some more reading on them. brakes are great for dd'ing but ss lines and/or 4pots are being considered.

and i've derailed my own thread lol

thanks for the specs johnson

It's actually a good mod for n/a guys. Made rev-matching easier for me, pretty minor (on a 2.0-litre) and I've heard the 2.5 Turbo guys don't notice it at all.
It just depends how much torque you have.

Yes, I had one on my old Legacy N/A. It felt nicer, but there were ZERO gains as far as power went. It is a bling option. The reason for the hate is the widespread opinion that it DOES offer gains on our cars.

Read this thread - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ghlight=pulley

Anyways, if someone just wants to do it for looks I can't argue with that.

I think they are still ironing out the kinks for the 2.5i avls, usage isn't widespread but it is growing.

That's what I used to install the crank pulley. Butt dyno felt the car revved quicker but I dunno. I bought it when it was cheaper during a group buy.

I've done the mod before, and would prefer to spend my money elsewhere now.

That said, if you NA guys are seeing gains, you can't argue with that. Plus, you're so limited on the mods you can do, it's almost a no brainer. Fwiw, I'd throw a shot of Zex on it and call it a day.

I removed the lightened pulley that was on the car when I bought it in favour of the stock one, FWIW.

Inertia is important in small displacement vehicles.
