Question Advices on making my own header!!

Here where i live is really hard to get your hands on any aftermarket products for any subaru, and the ones you can get are xtremmelly expensive, so i decided to make my own header at the muffler shop, i already made the hole cat-back 2.25", but now i am considering making the header. The guy at the muffler place told me that he needs the mesaurements to make it, he is offering it to me, for about US$170 wich i think is arelly good deal.

My problem right now is that i dont want to get the job done and then the car gets any slower, so the guy told me he needs the description and mesaurements of what i need. Can any of you help me out?.

I need to now whats the best inlet size?, where do the curves go?,how many tubes are coming out of the engine (4 tubes that come together in one at the end or 4 tubes that come together in two and the one)? in fact i need any opinions you can give me.

Posting pics would really help.

Thanks in advance

Do a search for the MRT headers and exhaust systems. I would have your man copy that design. Four tubes coming off the engine, joining into two, and then into one. The four tubes should be 1 7/8", the two tubes 2", and 2 1/4 when they join into one. There needs to be a balance pipe between the two sides. Then put a single high-flow catalytic converter in place of the stock converters, and have him put an oxygen sensor fitting in one header tube, and one behind the cat. You'll be in business. You also might want to talk to some of the Puerto Rican guys on this board, they seem really nice, and they've got some very tricked out cars that look great. They might be able to give you some advice on suppliers in your part of the world. Good luck.

Can't the 2.5 RS engine use a header that comes out from the engine in four tubes 2" and then gets together in one 2 1/4" at the end? and do the tubes leght has to be the same?

Any other opinions?

For a custom header, the MRT system is the system to copy. There is a fellow in P.R. who does have the MRT system, so you'll definitely want to get a hold of him. Also search in the Vendors forum for MRT or exhaust group buy or something. It has a few pictures of the system, and probably the fellow's name who lives in P.R. with the system.

The boxer motor header does not look like an inline 4cyl header, so the design is totally different. The diameter of the pipes used may vary depending upon intended use and other mods, but the dimensions given to you by motorob are what MRT uses and seem like a good base (i.e. unless you have cams, don't bother with anything bigger). The MRT system looks pretty big, tube-wise, as it is.

Equal-length tubes are a good idea.

I still have some doubts!!

Which is better for mi engine?
(4 tubes into 2 and then 1) or (4 tubes that become one at the end)

and also, which do you think should be the diameter for the tubes?

It's JUN not JUNE. Also reason why SYMS, CUSCO, ZERO SPORTS, PROVA, STi etc are so expensive.

Remember, if you can, get stainless steel.

Default Jun is waayyy difficult

The Jun header is more designed for turbo applications, and has a bunch of very tricky bends and welds. The mrt system is much more copyable.

select exhaust, they have a picture of the version for the Liberty.

Jun can be found here:

Cheers
