Hey buddy, welcome. I saw you posting in the MAIC as well. The Normally Aspirated part of the boards is a good place to start. Not many with the '08s on the boards yet though. I hope you don't plan on modding anytime soon...And don't listen to any of the crap people talk about your car. Unlike them, people like you and I know they're hawt!

Again, welcome!

eh I did alot of shopping... was almost hooked into another lancer... then I jokingly asked what the sticker was on the new imps and the wheels started turning.... 170hp AWD $18.5k? that's awesome! the only other AWD in that pricepoint is the SX4 and there isn't another in the pp that comes close in hp and torque... I'm an older family guy now and I always preferred sleepers anyway. by the time the warranty cracks I'll have a good idea of what mods I want.
thanks sis and if I see something you don't I'll post you.

I also have a 2008 4-door. It's the first car that I'm supporting by myself. I test-drove the SX4 and the 2.5i, and coming from a long history of driving underpowered vans, I was impressed at how well the 2.5i handled around the nearby cloverleaf. Plus, I wanted a CAR, you know, with an honest-to-goodness trunk.

I haven't given much thought to the car's aesthetics... From the A-pillar back, it looks to me like major money. When I look at the front, it reminds me of those scowling evil demons on Japanese woodcuts.

I bought an 08 impreza 4 door sedan in satin white pearl. Love the look and safety of the awd and vdc.

I'd like to see another sub-category for the 2008+ years though.

Some...I am planning on having that addressed..cause I think its coming from a trim piece that doesnt seem to be seated right.
I am going to be doing the leather wrap steering wheel cover and find some nice seat covers to keep that super light beige interior somewhat clean. I am also going to have the windows tinted sometime..and I should have gotten the alloys but I can always get something different later.

I took me camera with me to the dealer to pick it up that night but I am a picture junkie I want to see pics of everyone elses!!

I too have a 08 2.5 impreza. Its a newport blue sedan w/ premium package and 5 speed. Only options are the arm rest extension and cargo nets (didn't want them). Final purchase price was 18,100 +ttl.

I am not new to subaru models (95 legacy with 186k and still running), but I find that the 08 is a step in a better direction for subaru. They need to claim a greater stake in the market place (to survive), so the changes made in the 08 model are warranted and welcomed imo. Boxer engine and the balanced awd is the heart and soul of our subaru's,

Sure, some of the plastics are cheap, but for the money, AWD, EBD, VCD, TC, Hill holder for under 19k is a awesome deal.

Not really into modding my car, perhaps an upgrade to the 17's from the wrx and better tires. Maybe a kartboy or shortshifter.

anyone else not liking the shifter? It seems really awkward going into each of the gears. I sometimes have to force it in

I'm not sure if my shifter woes are not user interface error... been 8yrs since I drove a 5spd.

The shifter is alittle tight...not bad though...it actually feels just like my XT6 shifter..very tight and alittle "choppy"..now compaired to my 93 Imp LMAO..there were no bushings left so it was sloppy!

I think the more we drive them things will settle into place and smooth out... I just dont like that upper RPM hang that it has...feels like the throttle sticking

Hey guys. Just picked up an 08 2.5i sedan w/ the premium package and 5 speed. I was doing a little searching about the rough shifting/rpm hang and came across this forum.

Does anyone else think this has anything to do with the new electronic throttle control? Perhaps the gas isn't being cut when the peddle is released.

I've noticed that the shifting is a LOT smoother if you press the clutch and then wait a quarter second before shifting to the next gear.

I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing.

Later,
Kevin

for the money... if you are looking for AWD and cruise control... which holds surprisingly well on the 5spd.... if you are looking for horsepower and torque.... I think this is the best deal. I've done further research on other cars on the market even after my purchase and the only other AWD/4wd in the price range is the Jeep Patriot, the only other car with the hp/torq is the VW Rabbit.
personally for a total package I am and was sold on the 2.5i... would have been nice to have the dual exhaust on the 5dr though.

I might have to try that delay thing. And for the price i think it was worth it for sure

I agree with Madogre..if you want AWD..for the money you can't beat it..and in my opinion.they definately stepped up. Even the base model doesnt feel like the old econo-box previous Imps ( please ..I am compairing base model to base model..dont want the WRX and STi owners to get thier knickers in a twist )

Take one out for a spin..that is what sold me on mine.. My only complaint with mine is my roof rack picked up a bad rattle at 38-42 mph....regularly..it goes in tomorrow to have the rear bumper guard installed and I will have that addressed.
I think everything on the interior is very well placed..I found the back seat suprisingly roomy( compairing it to my 93 Imp and my XT6)
The gas mileage could be better...hopefully that will come

Just picked up my 2.5i 5dr auto with Navi yesterday. This is my first subie and AWD and I'm liking it so far. Was great in the snow we had in Canada today. First post too on the forums.

2.5i Premium package, Newport blue. Auto because I have bad knees and am old. The younger crowd may find it boring and generic but when you become an old fart with kids, other priorities come to the fore.

Picking it up next week at Carter Subaru in Seattle. 94 Sentra will be pushed off a cliff shortly thereafter.

WRX would have been nice but 170hp with a fatter torque curve over the 06/07 models should be pretty good.

very nice!... I'll be doing something when the tax man pays me back in february... tinting and underspoilers are on the wish list.

on another note about this car... does it sound to anyone else that the sides of the car are being pulverized when you run over rocks or gravel? I've not noticed any dents but the undercarriage is definitely taking a beating. if you have noticed, do the splashguards make a difference?
