Installed my Magnaflow Catback this weekend. It looks great but the sound... ugh. To loud for my tastes on an automatic car. Any of you guys do a auto to manual swap on an 08 Impreza? DIY's? Pitfalls?

Also viewed Empire State Rally all weekend, i'm hooked. I want to rally!

The Borla's were good for a while but it left me wanting the "subaru rumble".

I personally can't justify it within my wallet to put any more money into this car. I love it but I have other priorities. The Borla came from a motorcycle rear ending me anyway. I chose to get that over stock. Haha.

Okay so I know these 2.5i's are just slow economy cars. But, does anyone besides Jourdan AutoX or Road Rally their vehicles? I'm looking for threads on people who have turned the 08-10 2.5I sedan/hatches into a fun vehicle for ripping some turns.

Yes, I know this car isn't fast by any means but I'm just looking to do a small budget build for FUN.

I have with coils and 17x9 245/40 wheels And all stock. It's more fun stock because you have to fight the car more and the car is more competitive in a stock class than modified.

This. I know I can rip through a tank in less than 200 miles if I really want too.

I view all commuter cars, economy cars... just the basics, simplisitic car with no real bells/whistles.
Yeah, for such a light car I get crap gas mileage, even running 93 octane.

Dillon, Thanks for the response. I'm definately looking into doing shocks/springs/metal skidplate/seats/swaybars. Just need to find what brand is best for those parts.

If you want to you can get up to 32, 33 mpg too.. at least I can in stock configuration with my 5-speed. The fatter stickier tires and mud flaps knock the potential down a bit especially on the highway above 70mph, but I can still get pretty damn good mpg if I try.

Oh, and I have come to the conclusion that I get better mpg with 87 octane than 89 or 92, and feels like it has more pep too. It is tuned for it after all, and lower octane gas actually contains more energy per volume..

PS- my car handles great with the 17" x 8" wheels and 225/45/17 "performance" all season 400 treadwear tires and a rear sway bar. It is what I consider fun to drive for sure. Not "fast", but fast enough to have some fun for sure.

If I want good MPG I can get it also. The AP tune with 87 actually yields better MPG then stock.

Interesting to hear you guy's running lower octanes. I've driven Audi/Mercedes all my life so i'm used to paying top dollar for 93 octane. Next fill up i'll try regular. Hope I don't hear pinging.

What strut braces/swaybars do you guys run?

Anyone install bilstein/eibach springs?

Running anything higher then 87 is completely pointless unless you have a tune for it.

I thought I heard pinging once, one hot summer day with AC on, pulling away from a stop sign, for like 1.5 seconds. Seriously. It could have been some other weird noise I never noticed I guess- that doesn't seem like a situation where pre-detonation (knock) would occur, does it? Maybe it was a heatsoak type issue that the computer instantly corrected? Even 1 second of knocking can be bad though.

I'll try a few as well. Can't hurt, I go through a half tank a day. I average 25-28 mpg's now mostly highway, floor it in the city to let the rallisoprts eco

And I've noticed that my accessories don't help gas milage. Oem bars, fairing, basket, rally armors, 235 tires. And my average high way speed is 120kph/75mph.

But you can get better gas milage out of a stage 2 wrx with only trying a little. I've personally witnessed it.

There's only a few other people that I know of. There's himynamesgreg here and RallyShark and DeltaBleh (I think) on 3gwrx. But I haven't seen anyone of those guys post is a very long time.

KartRacer3 has a good set-up. But I don't know that he goes to any events.

Braces are kinda meh... I had a Cusco front strut brace. A rear brace seems kinda pointless with the way the car is designed. Sway bars are great. I have a Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear sway and I love it.

I have had Swift springs and they were pretty good. Got rid of them when I got coils. Now I'm on stock springs with Koni shocks and it's the best set-up I've had. The stock shocks really do suck that much.

Also, I found more photos that got posted. One of the shots, I liked.

Hard to tell, but the 17x9+45 RPF1's in this shot.

I will be with my next oil change! I've heard it works great with Subaru engines.

I probably should be, same with the WRX. But just use Subaru synthetic for both. Just sent in an oil analysis for the WRX, we'll see how it reads in a few days. T6 may be kind of overkill for a NA. We'll see though.
