Default removal of side airbags - how to?

Swapped some WRX seats into my RS and as I don't have the harness for them and they must be the reason for some of the extra weight (these weigh much more than my RS seats) I want to remove them.

Anyone done this/know how to do this cleanly?

As I said these are not hooked up to anything so there is no safety issue when removing them - it just seems silly to leave them in there....and maybe I can sell them to someone who needs to replace theirs?

TIA

James

there's a zipper on that side of the seat I believe... I can't remember for sure, I haven't looked at mine in a while. I would imagine just unzip that and unclip the harness.

Yep, undo the zipper on the back side of the seat and remove any hog rings that may be holding the side fabric in your way. Remove any screws you might find (I think there are 2 M10 nuts, can't remember right now), peel the side airbag out of where it's sitting, and unplug the harness.

If you don't feel like bending the hog rings back into place, small zip ties work fine too.

You also might want to have some foam handy to fill the void where the bags used to be. I didn't do this on my car, but the only way you can tell is if you poke at the side of the seat where the bags used to be.
