Default Which Tires to get for 9" rim

I have tried looking at different reviews of tires but wanted some people's input on which summer tires might work best. I have seen the sticky http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1253114 and narrowed my choices to the summer high performance models of the Michelin PS2, RE-01's, and Goodyear F1s. can you all comment on tire longevity and sidewall stifness reviews. I will not be driving the car in the winter so summer only tires are good for me. oh and the size will most likely be 245/40/18. Thanks for any input.

you bama

you're gonna need those coilovers and fender rolling to run those 245/40/18s with no problems. 235/40/18 would fit with no problem, 245/40 and 255/35 will require fender rolling and possibly suspension changes.

I use 9" rims on my 2004,+44 offset. The only mod was folding up the rear horizontal fender lip. 255/35-18 will not change the gearing or ride height. The PS2s were great dry and wet and lasted about 12,000 miles on the street. My 050A Pole Positions are even better;I can't estimate mileage yet,but the PPs on the front of my Corvette have about 11,000 miles and are no more than 1/2 worn. The only tire I might want over a PP is the new Toyo R1R,but there isn't enough info about it yet.

I'm not saying that the PPs will outlast PS2s. The PPs haven't been on my STi more than 4,000 miles, while I have been through 2 sets of PS2s on the STi. But for performance,I haven't heard of a better tire except for the fast-wearing race-compound DOT tires.

Not sure what size they come in, but I have the Falken RT615s on my auto cross car and they are SUPER sticky. They won best auto cross tire in Grass Roots motorsport and they are cheap!!

615's are awesome (although I'm not sure they come in his requested size/s) PP's are supposed to be awesome and you can't lose with a Michelin (there's a reason they are the benchmark...) but in all reality, you have chosen 3 winners, I can't imagine that any one of these choices would leave you truly disappointed. (but I say Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear in that order)
