Default 02 map on an 03 ecu

I have access to a map which has proven itself in several stage 2 modded subarus in my area. Now, a friend of mine just installed a catless dp and 3" exhaust and wants me to put the map onto his car. Only thing is, the cars that have had the map on the so far have all been 2002's and the car I'd be putting this on is a 2003. Can I simply pull the map from the 02 and flash it onto the 03 or are they different enough that I need to copy the various bits and pieces of the map onto an 03 base map?

^^^Watch out on fuel map scaling, the 02 WRX map is one column wider and if it was tuned to the final column then the 03 WRX will not get that column of information when you try to copy the maps onto a 03 WRX rom.

You can flash an 02 wrx rom onto an 03 wrx without issue.

I flashed an AH423 '02 ROM onto an AJ030 '03 ECU in 2003 with no problems.

Yeah, an '02 rom will work just fine on an '03 ecu.

Heck, even Cobb seems to think it's ok (their AP maps for the 02-03 cars are based on an '02 rom).

Alright, great. I had remembered hearing about people having issues using 04 maps on 05's so I wasn't sure if 02s and 03s had the same issues. How much work would it take to get the 02 map onto an 05? Big problems or just copy and paste again?

I would not recommend flashing an 02 rom on anything but an 02 and an 03.
