One thing too, if Volkswagen can import Golfs from Germany and make a profit on them, there's nothing stopping Ford from running an extra shift in Germany to produce Focus RSes for North America especially since the basic car already is homologated.
Would make it easier for Ford, I guess, than spending $texas on retooling the Michigan line since they claimed it would be $texas to make a Diesel Fiesta in Mexico. |

A revo knuckle, proper sized axle shafts, and a good alignment will only take a fwd car so far. In the end, physics dictates that when you're powering the wheels that also need to turn, that you're going to be limited. Then there's the whole weight transfer thing...
But an AWD platform makes up for a lot of those downfalls. I wonder what kind of AWD they would go with? |

The deal killer for me when it comes to FWD is traction. Even a stage 2+ GTI spends an awful lot of time spinning the tires, and that's not 350 horsepower. If I'm going to have traction issues, I'd rather have it be the rear wheels.

I'd trade the car in immediately for this, fwd and all. I watched clarkson hang the a$$ of this thing out while watching an 08 STI understeer itself to death. AWD is not the end all be all....

And torque steer isn't THAT bad is the war cry of all of the MS3, Cobalt and Neon fanboi's who refuse to talk about complete lack of traction in a fwd car with decent power.

Yet the MS3 and Cobalt SS (turbo version) have been shown time and again to be faster around a track than a WRX.........

That is due to straightline speed at a roll. I would assume the other posters are talking about launching and applying power in slower corners.

Wrong.. I drove a 2009 WRX and the MS3 handles better in ALL situations, that is why I bought it. The only time the car has a fault is at a stop light launch. If you think a stock WRX can beat a MS3 around a track, ANY track, your sadly mistaken. The steering response, brakes, directional transitions, and acceleration is better in the MS3. The MS3 will Probably loose off the line though. But anything past an 1/8th mile, the WRX is doomed.
The speed 3 has a more efficient drive train, and FAR more torque. Yes, the MS3 does have a tinge of torque steer, no doubt, yes you can notice it if your running it at above 9/10ths on uneven pavement at times. It is still not really an issue ever. I have never said, oh man, I almost lost control due to all the torque steer. Claims it makes the cars undrivable are senseless and without merit. Go drive one... and be honest, and tell me it is not one of the best handling cars out there in the 25-35000 dollar range and before you cry fanboi, I have owned 7 subarus, and the mazda was the first non subaru I have owned in 9 years. So I know exactly what I am talking about.. |

I have driven a MS3. It is a very capable car--that would be even more so if it was AWD... . And before you call me an AWD fanboi my track/autox car is FWD.
