Default GDB Powder folding mirror issue

For those who have done the power folding mirror mod I have a question...

Mine are standard on my ver7 sti and occasionally the driver side (passagner for you) will automatically fold outward in a reverse fashion without me flipping a switch. It's been buggin the **** out of me and I don't know why it would do that. I don't know if it's the motor or what that would give it that sort of input because I'm not using the mirror switch at all. It only happens occasionally when I start my car up. Thanks for your input

I have a quick solution... Send them to me!

No but really, I would imaging it being something to do with the limit switch in the mirror as the car checks to see if they are out.

The mirrors aren't so "smart" as to have limit stop, well at least there is not feedback to the car, there are only two wires for folding.

The switch just applies power (+) and ground (-) to say fold the mirror out, the mirror goes until it stops. To fold them in, the switch swaps (+) and (-) to the opposite wires, and the mirror folds in until it stops.

If your mirror is folding randomly, either something is wrong internally with the motor, or there is a wiring/switch issue where something is getting grounded out, or wires crossed. The first scenario seems much more likely.

The folding part has 2 wires. In one polarity direction it folds. In the reverse polarity it will open. Unless it's the limit switch as mentioned above. I think iwsti had a wire diagram with auto parts store standard switches.

Cool ill chk it out. Hopefully its not the motor, but a mech malfunction seems more likely. Thanks guys
