You also don't get any of the built in suspension upgrades, etc, dropping the new WRX engine into a regular Impreza.

But someone will do it, then cry when they try to sell it because nobody else will agree with them that it is more valuable that way...they will lose their shirt trying to resell it as an upgraded sleeper...when it is smarter for that buyer to just buy the new WRX (plus that way, they actually get a warranty)

i'm not arguing with you, i agree. i'm just saying if they can drop ls1's in cars that were never designed for them, surely an FA20 can go into a car with a FB20

Not if they don't make a 5-door WRX...

I'd certainly consider swapping a WRX engine into my 2012 Impreza, if someone else does it first and demonstrates that it wouldn't be too unreasonable of a job. I like the idea of a WRX engine under the hood of a base Impreza hatchback, complete with "2.0i" and "PZEV" badges.

Why stop there, take that big block V8 you've been saving for that Gremlin sleeper project and pop that sucker in!

On a serious note, you can find cars from people that have done these types of swaps on ebay occasionally.

The seller always talk up how much of an improvement they have made, but the auctions usually never meet the reserve price the seller puts on the car (trying to recoup the cost of said "improvements").

I would recommend you only consider this type of engine swap if you are positive you want to keep the car for a long, long, time.

Or if you have too much money. I agree though - by the time you buy the engine, new harness, and spend money fabricating junk to make it fit.. you'd be better off buying a wrx from the start. Maybe I should edit that. MOST of us would be better off with a wrx from the start.

The new WRX seats look nice. Certainly something I hear a lot of 4th Gen Impreza owners talking about. What I think we've missed is that the Leather-trimmed models will have a power seat. So for those who have leather in your Imprezas, you're either gonna have to swap cloth seats in or rig up a way to send power to the seat.

I have cloth seats now and I actually prefer cloth over leather. If I can get these down the road at a decent price and get them to fit I will be so stoked. A more hugging seat would really enhance the driving experience

Does it have to be a spanner? Wouldn't any long piece of metal (crowbar, breaker bar, whatever) slid through the hole in the tow hook allow someone to unscrew it?

Why even have the tow hook? Do you expect to do much illegal parking?

It's a cosmetic flourish. I don't like them either, but to each his own.

I joked with a friend with a VW GTI that he should install a permanent tow hook on his car because it broke down so often.

Folks, Google the Subaru Levorg. It's "essentially" the new WRX wagon. Unveiled at the Tokyo auto show.

IMO, meh.

I want one, but only because it is essentially the new legacy Wagon, and not a monstrous outback

Meh is right. If I wanted a bigger wagon, I'd want it on the mid-size Legacy, not the compact Impreza. Plus, all those curvy lines on the front are spoiled by the sharp corners on top of the rear... :-P

Well, I was only speaking hypothetically. I'm only a month and a half in on owning my first Soobie! Hopefully there WILL be a five door Rex/STI when I'm ready to upgrade.

Am I alone in thinking the Levorg is horribly ugly?

It's not that it's terrible.. It's just not what I was hoping for.. I was hoping it'd be just a wagon version of said new WRX. Where it kind of is, they really smoothed the back out. Not terrible, but I wouldn't buy it..

I absolutely love the Levorg. I think it's one of subaru 's better designs. Would trade in for one if they came here
