The xylon stuff is ****ty. I didnt notice any difference when they supposively put it in the forester before I bought it. I think it just gets them some sort of bonus from that company.

I would much rather go to San Antonio or have Gillman Subaru ship one to there dealership in Harlingen.

Truthfully there isnt much of a subie community down here. They are far and few between. Most are older generation of people who dont give two ****s. Of all the subarus ive waived to, ive only ever had one waive back. Thats because my wife was in the forester and I was behind her in the impreza when a 09 STI came charging up the on-ramp.

I wish there was more action but there really isnt much. I seen they have an import invasion drag event held at Edingburg international dragstrip(sp?). But I dont know what day that was going to be.

None-the-less, welcome to the valley. Hope your time down here is a good one.
If you got time to cruise, theres plenty of long straight-a-ways and empty roads. Pretty much any road above fm 107 is good. Google elsa,tx and fm1015 and cruise out that way. Just have a gps for getting back.

Check out rgvpca.org

It's the porsche club, but they have track days near Port Isabel at the Cameron county airport. Any car can run.

I've been down here about 6 years, and have to agree Subaru is very uncommon.

Well...If you see someone in a beat up BRP RS2.5 that's me. I'd fix it up, but I take it to Mexico daily, so why bother Better to keep a low profile over there..

I hear ya about the mexico thing. I went on down in may of 09 when I had just bought a truck. Little kids touching your vehicle trying to sell cilantro. Horrible drivers and tight parking spaces. Fortunately that was the first and probably last time I'm headed south of the border

I wouldn't mind checking out the porsche club event. By no means would I be of any competition, but it would be fun to watch.

hi guys! long time, I went in for an oil change and almost bought the 2011 WRX sedan they got at BertOgden...it sounds much better than the previous models, but I dont like the black accents on dash/doors. Well, I finally found of set of STi struts/springs and hopefully I can get them soon. I'm crazy excited! It's all I need to finish the fozzy.

Hey Marc, where ya been man?

Ive been rather busy. Ive been spending my free time reading thru internet and magazines for house and landscape ideas for the land my wife and I own.

I was in the market for a automatic 06 wrx limited up in Houston. They had even offered to pay a little extra for me to drive up, but the banks were screwing us over hardcore trying to make us pay like $2500 down for a 13% apr. I for the lack of better words told their bank and the dealership to (fu ck) off. My wife and I both have great credit but they were playing games so we decided to keep the ones we own and look for a house instead.

Hey aluma, did you happen to find a bird jammed into your bike spokes on Sunday? Just as I was turning for 23rd street I seen it fly into the spokes. My wife and I couldn't believe it. Just checking to see if it messed up your ride or bike.

And yesterday coming into work about a minute late and there were some guys/ gals out front I casually cruised thruv the parking lot in first gear at about 3500rpms. Less than 20mph. Now everyone thinks I speed because the car sounded faster than what I was going. Its a stock 2.5i.

Also got told I should race this one guy at work. He apparently has a good car... 93 protoge or something.
Me: yeah okay... and you have what???
Him: doesn't matter. ( sorta cocky and over confident).... its a awd. Yeah baby. Nothing beats my awd blah blah blah.
Me: umm about that, subarus are all wheel drive. Yeah that means both of my cars since there subarus, have awd. So your going to beat me as in.....like your cars gonna **** the bed or what? I don't see how having awd in your ****box is gonna beat me but okay.
Him: ( nothing) he walked away.

Apparently some folks need to be schooled.

LMAO! protoge!!! OMG, nicceeee... well that would explain why my wheels sounded funny while I started to ride, but the squealing went away after a while...geez, these things are strong.

Don't forget to launch it! and tell him you'll meet him at the Edinburg race track on friday so he can get schooled in public and in paper.

I wasn't sure if it was still in there or not. It flew right down and busted its neck and was flapping all weird. Truthfully, it was quite amusing.

Ironically my forester sounds way louder than the impreza. But no one seems to talk ****. Maybe because its faster

So I talked to an old guy at Lowes today who has the impreza identical to mine. He must be mid 80's. He said hes owned a total of 4 subies so far and he likes is 2.5i. I showed him some pictures of mine in its auto-x days and the gas mileage I get, he was quite impressed to see that mine gets 37.5 mpgs and his has not.

I get a feeling Im talking to myself but oh well!
Does anyone know if anyplace in Mexico does importing? Say if I wanted to ship a vehicle into mexico to my in-laws, directly from japan( hopefully) do you think they would be able to title it, or at least get it into US safely without alot of questions at the border?

Im not to familiar with how Mexico operates and wanted to just ponder that question and see if any of you guys been to mexico often or have family down there who could with this topic.

Since I started my new job on Monday in downtown McAllen, I've seen about 30 subarus. Most are older, but I seen a wingless 05-07 whit sti, couple wrxs, fozzies, legos, an old school loyale. Also seen a lot of highend cars in these private subdivisions... like an Audi r8 might be a r6. Bmw 7 and m series, 4 door porsche fastback sedan, some ferraris, jeep srt8's, and lots of high modded vw's.
Also a wrb wrx in weslaco wal-mart, a 06-07 silver sti at weslaco heb, and the two nice ones that pulled into bert ogden last Saturday.. a 08 dark gray wrx hatch, and a 08 wrb wrx sedan.

I just started working for the city of McAllen last Monday. Its more money and its along the same lines of what I was doing in the military. More money= more subie stuff hopefully. And getting a house built that much sooner.
