Default CEL turned off by itself.

I have been getting a CEL every 2000 miles or so, I am pretty sure it is a low cat effeciency since I only got CEL since I put my MRT exhaust on. Normally, I will disconnect the battery and let it sit and then connect it back up and the CEL is off. I then have to reset all my radio stations.

This time it was raining and I let the CEL go for about a day and a half. I started the car up and the CEL light was off, all by itself. Maybe it won't be coming back.

the same thing happened to me yesterday. I was on my way up to the ski hill, and the CEL came on. It was on for the 2 hour drive to the hill, and the 3 hour drive back.

I got home, washed the car, and when I started it again the CEL was off.

I doubt they will give me a new ECU when they read the reason for my CEL, low cat efficiency and then they look and see my car is missing one cat. Or they may agree to give me a new ECU and then find my UNIchip sitting in the ECU bay.

Yep, I have the stock uppipe and a turbo back with 1 cat. The cat is farther down the stream than the stock one. My CEL comes on for a day or two then goes off. As long as it's not blinking it's ok with me...

When they see a P0420 code and notice a missing cat they will do nothing. The ECM is programmed to shut hte light off after 3 consequitve drive cycle monitors passed w/o a failure.

So if I stop and start my car three times and there is no failure the light will go off?

jeremy sounds correct.

Mine will go off after a while too, but I never counted the cycles.
