The Blitz axle back exhaust for the GC chassis is on back order so I picked up a used Skunk 2 cat back. I didn't need the midpipe since I already have the TXS exhaust installed to the rear axle. I found out pretty quick that the TXS and Skunk 2 flanges didn't mate up so I cut the pipe and took it to a local guy that welded the Skunk 2 flange so it would mate to the TXS. I had to use my spare set of extended exhaust hangers so everything would mate up. Results below.

I finally power up the car (didn't start it) on the stock ECU to check the fuel pressure, lights and gauges. Well, 1 out of 3 worked. While the gauges worked, my wiring isn't quite right because the gauges only illuminate if I turn on the running lights. They switch colors when I turn on the headlights (at least that worked). The headlights and fogs work, but the fuel pressure doesn't look right. When I turn the power on I can hear the fuel pump prime and my fuel pressure will go to around 15psi then taper to 6-8psi. I put a gauge in the engine bay just to make sure the Prosport gauge was reading correctly, and sure enough it is. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Replaced the ball joints and tie rods with the WL re-engineered versions, reconnected the axles, struts and brakes. I still need to torque them and install the cotter pins.

I had to come up with some not so creative hose routing for my BOV. The Apexi CAI requires a small restrictor pill that goes between the BOV and TMIC. Unfortunately there wasn't enough room for the pill so I had to add hose and route it around back to the turbo inlet. Short of pulling the TMIC and tapping it to add room, I chose this route instead. I'm not wild about the 90's, but hopefully it will work properly.

Thanks, I've kinda grown found if it myself.

All four wheel hit the ground today, the first time in several months. I secured everything under the car (Innovate, double checked the exhaust bolts, etc.). I do need to torque the lower ball joints and front swaybar endlink bolts now that the full weight of the vehicle is on the wheels (at least that's what the FSM calls for).

I'm pretty sure I had the feed and return fuel lines crossed since my fuel pressure looks good. I also resolved the wiring issue with the Prosport gauges and they illuminate like they are supposed to (white w/o lights on and green with the lights turned on), now I just need to figure out how to silence that annoying tone on startup. I calibrated the Innovate wideband and secured most of the wiring, but still have a few odds and ends remaining. The Link G4 should be in next week. I'm going to drop by the tuner's shop this week and have them modify one of the Link WRX base tunes so I can load it on the Link when it arrives. Getting closer by the day.

Thanks.

Looking at the last picture it is hard to see the top of the front tire, but tire to fender well is very close to the rear. Prior to installing the Swift springs and Paranoid 3/8" saggybutt spacers the rear looked like it had a busted strut.

How it looked when I bought it last summer:

Right before the swap started:

After suspension install:

Looking at the first picture one might ask why I changed the the trunk lid (and probably question whether I'm actually making improvements ). The main reason was the spoiler - it was an aftermarket job and they drilled through the trunk lid and did a horrible job of sealing the holes.

Got the Ver 1/2 EJ20G base map from Simon @ Link and pulled it into the G4 PCLink software. While the ECU comes with the base map loaded (the ECU won't be in until next week), I'm taking my laptop to the tuner Thursday so he can make appropriate changes so I can start the car. My plan is to run WG pressure for startup and easy road testing. While I know a little about the software, I'm lost as last year's easter egg when it comes to tuning and will let him make the adjustments for the larger injectors, check timing and trigger settings, etc.

Fun ain't it. Getting my car shipped to me can't wait to work on it again. Got a 96 l , took the rear seat and rear disc's from a 90 Legacy.... Interior from a 96 wagon, got to love interchangability, now to save up a ton of money to get the sti motor tranny and clip.

Interesting looking at the stock injector settings in the Link software for the Ver1/2 EJ20G. Latency values by voltage numbers look different than what I've seen posted elsewhere for stocker 440cc injectors.

After updating with the DW650's, the numbers look like this...

Since I'm still waiting on the Link EMS I decided to do some clean up. I removed the washers used for spacers on the accelerator bracket and put in some small tubing. I also picked up a Ver 3 STi TMIC. I'm not sure if I'll use it, but I modified it so it should clear the IACV and tapped in a fitting for the stock BOV. I cut the stock BOV elbow, ground it down and installed a metal plate over the opening. I used an industrial grade bounding material that makes JB Weld look like Elmers glue. Once it has cured I'll buff it out so it looks a little less ghetto.

Lastly, the job I've been dreading, changing the passenger side door window from crank to power. The previous owner put the manual power door on following an accident. Fortunately I had a spare door harness because the clip for the power window motor was cut. It took a few hours but was much easier than expected. In typical Subaru fashion, everything bolted right up and I managed not to break the glass. Now I need a door card without holes cut in it.

Hey,

I've got a set of 99 RS doorcards with no holes I'd let go cheap.

I bought mine last summer from another member. I'm pretty sure you can get the re-engineered version from FastWRX, MachV or Annapolis Subaru. I spoke with Jackie at Annapolis Subaru a few weeks ago and she was getting her old inventory replaced with the new stuff from Global Performance.

The original grey carpet was so bad I didn't even want to attempt putting it back in. I decided to go with black, but work was required (and I'm still not finished). The pre-cut stuff you can find from many vendors including eBay are pre-cut length and width, you have to cut the holes for the seats, belts, etc. It takes a lot of patience, but since I'm pushing my swap budget I didn't want to take it to an upholstery shop. If I was building a show car I would definitely take it to a pro. Tools required: scissors, carpet cutter, stapler, hair dryer and a hot glue gun. I also got the hood back on and installed some carbon fiber hood dampers.

Start the car! The base map has been tweeked for startup and I'm just waiting on the Link G4, which should be in this week. I've checked most of the electrical stuff that can be checked without starting the car, but I don't want to start the car on the stock ECU with the 650 injectors. While I'm waiting I decided to try and finish some of the loose ends of the project. Body work and paint will come later, if I even decide to do it.

Me too. I finished the carpet this morning, disconnected the JDM ECU and cranked the car... and it cranked! With so much work done and being a mechanical n00b I was slightly pessimistic that it wouldn't turnover. Anxiously awaiting the ECU!

IIR I got mine from MachV Motorsports. They had both gray and black in stock.

I don't remember seeing it, but I've slept since I bought this so they might have it. Give'em a call or send them a PM (they are a supporting vendor).
