Default BOV noise without CAI?

I got my 2012 WRX in November and just recently I have been hearing a woosh noise under heavy throttle. It sounds like a BPV sound but under throttle. It is all stock except a Cobb AccessPort Stage 1. I am concerned because this sound just started happening a few days ago. I'm at about 10,000 miles and it has never made this noise before now.

Could it be the hotter weather? Maybe my BPV is stuck open? I just started using air conditioning because of the warmer weather, but the noise persists even when A/C is off.

I just watched this video and I think I hear the sound even in the stock part of the video. I guess I just don't understand why I didn't hear this before.

I just connected to the access port and I'm not getting as high boost numbers. A month or so ago I was getting up past 16 and now I can barely get to 15. Any ideas?

it has 10k miles on it unmarry the AP and take it into the dealer. if it doesn't make that noise after you unmarry the AP then i would call Cobb and ask them what they think about it before taking it to the dealer. because i can tell ya right now if the dealer can't duplicate the sound/issue they won't fix it.

It's your throttle body intercooler hose. Search around nasioc. 2011/2012's blow them off at stock boost levels. Either remove the intercooler yourself and put it back on or take it to the dealer. It's a common issue I'm sure they'll know of it.

Let us know what the outcome is. My car has the hose fail on me after a regular highway merge pull about 14psi. They are know to pop off very easily especially due to the rubber caps at the end. A lot of people remove those off the ends and put it back on. If you want a better seal put hairspray around the connection works kinda like a sealer.

HERE IS A THREAD

I have uploaded some pics and info about places to check if you are doing the work yourself.

PM me if you have questions.

Also the plastic OEM BPV has been known to fail, as well the plastic ends on the TMIC. However, that is more common in the 19+ PSI range.

Default Update

Alright so I went to the dealership. I pull up to the automatic door and pull into the entry way. I tell the guy whats going on and he's like alright take this tech for a ride and tell him what you are talking about. I tell the tech and he says, "I don't even need to go for a ride, I know what it is" He doesn't even pull it into the shop but just grabs a screwdriver and tightens the TB/TMIC hose. He turns the thing about 6 OR 7 TIMES!!!! He said he finds them finger tight (loose) from the factory all the time. He even said its to the point that he checks EVERY wrx when they come in for their first oil change.

Anyway, the whole thing took about 10 minutes tops. I have heard other people talk about taking the whole intercooler off, etc. But this guy just tightened it up while it was on the car. Car seems to run better than it ever did. I suspect it was always leaking a little but I just couldn't hear it.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Time to go re-marry my accessport!

Adding that to my fountain of Subie knowledge so if any 2011-2012 owners come my way, i'll pull out a flat head.

Your rubber gasket will fail... not might ... it will. It's just a question of when. Once you hit the above stock levels. 19 psi and above seems to be the magic number for most.

Glad your issue was easy to fix.
