Unhappy Strange rattle at idle

After my car is warm and the idle has settled to around 500-600 rpms, I can hear a strange rattle, it sounds like shaking a penny inside a plastic camera film canister. If I open the door, I can't hear it... If I go under the hood, I can't hear it... If I rev the engine above 1000 rpms it goes away. I can only hear it when the radio is off and all doors/windows are closed inside the car. It sounds like it's coming from the driver's side of the engine bay just beyond the fire wall. I'm baffled as to what it could be since I can't hear it outside of the car. Any ideas? I doubt it's valve train or injector noise... but... I could be wrong.

Update....

Upon looking at the heat shields and further further investigation into the cause of this rattle. I found that it is coming from the trunk behind the removable panel that reveals the floor jack. Too dark to tear appart the trunk so I will do that this weekend along with re-install my stereo (making static noise after letting off throttle with radio OFF.... weird) and fix my DP to Catback leak.

When I find it I'll let everyone on this little "tink tink" secret... Mine is more of a flapping sound once you stick your head in the trunk to listen... very odd.... very odd indeed....

Well I found it... it's my trunk vent... it has rubber flaps to seal the trunk off from the elements... for some reason mine makes intermittent noise at idle once the car is warmed up... still haven't found a permanent solution yet.... duct tape perhaps???.... j/k

Has anyone found a resolution to this problem? Mine actually started after I was rear-ended, and I got the car back from the body shop. Of course I had to inspect everything after that, and I noticed with the car running that my exhaust was making that exact same noise. It's very annoying, and I would like to get rid of it. Post the fix ASAP!!!

I cleaned the salt off of it and now it doesn't make noise... simple enough

Angry

my bad for bumping a 3 year old thread but i have this exact problem except its not in the trunk...

i can hear it with the doors and windows closed, not with them open though.
i can also hear it when i stick my head by the drivers wheel between the front wheel and driver door, and underneath that area. cant hear it with the hood open. it only does it after its warmed up. only at idle, little idle, any gas at all and it dissappears. im stumped its been driving me insane
