How do you have your Vipec set up for knock detection? Are you using the OEM knock sensor, or do you have it set up with multiple knock sensors and the standalone knock unit?
Very curious on the Vipec, looks very nice. |

vipec has knock control build in, that's why it cost little more than link.
im using Bosch sensor from old VW, mounted in same location under cyl 4 My high engine noise is from 250-300, and detonation is at about 500 and real knock around 800-1000. |

Thanks for the info. Been playing with the ViPEC software but it is a little bit difficult to decipher what it is capable of without connecting to an ECU.

I have been testing single port Turbosmart IWG actuator that Geoff from Full-Race sent me, and I am very impressed with design, it comes with very beefy springs and can use combination of 3 springs!
Some what the design reminded me of EWG, as when you assemble the unit you have to press it together with wise due to stiff springs! I am running 26 psi spring combo which is max on the unit. With 0 WG it gets me to 22 psi, and with 50% duty in linear slope mode to get 25-26 psi. Boost is flat to Redline, no lame tapper. Here is picture of fitment, fits very good! I only had to modify the rod for easy removal. Here is WG Duty map for 22 psi And this one for 25 psi with meth My guess is with 100% duty i could probably get 30 psi out of it Big thanks to Geoff and Raffi from full-race! How much preload did you put on that actuator?

very limited preload almost nothing, because when you assemble the unit is super preloaded.

hows things going with this turbosmart actuator, still good result? i am heading to PRI tomorrow, will see the turbosmart crew and planned to share this result.
i wish you had a shaft speed sensor in there and log to vipec to see how fast you are spinning the turbo and exactly where on the compressor map your setup is operating |

The speed sensor won't clear our heads on a subarus if he has the compressor clocked like I do. I actually had the speed sensor but had to send it back to you guys.

^ exactly what i thought when i was installing it.
I beat i'm so off the compressor map! But i like the instant spool to 5+ psi at 3000 rpm on the street. The turbosmart works great, i really liked the build quality vs Forge or Perrin (prototype). |

Pushing coolant with just 22 psi, about 7000 on the motor "remember its Benson block with cosworth gaskets and map h11 studs" |

How long ago did you buy the MAP Studs?
There was a set on the last block in my car which caused the heads to lift at 28psi. I think Fuji K posted a thread about how they were incorrectly produced, the problem has been fixed now. But, maybe you have one of the bad sets? |

Im sure he is referring to the fact that, its just a weak headstud/head gasket problem and not metal particles throughout the whole motor, which would have done a number on many of your parts.
Yeah I seen that thread about the Map studs. They made them shorter than stock studs on accident . Check your studs. |

When I bought the block and when I swapped the head gaskets mine was like that too. MPS told me that part will push down easily when you clamp the head on....
What did Mr. Benson himself have to say about it? |

the vertical measurement in his video is worthless because of the ligament warping.
It's the horizontal that shows room in the center between the cylinders that concerns me. the new designed sleeves don't remove as much material and leave the ligament intact. |
