How many months? If the tank is full or almost full you'll probably be fine.

usually there's a drain plug somewhere on the supply pipe to the engine, and you can cycle the fuel pump on and off to empty the tank through this line ...

just don't actually start the engine.

a) it wasn't me, i swear
b) it happened in ireland. they have gas attendants. and i have no clue how he managed to do it.
c) your fuel pump won't run continuously. you'll have to switch the accessory features on, you should hear it "whir" and the fuel dump out, switch it off, and repeat. is it bad for you car? beats me, it gets the fuel out tho.
d) as to a drain plug on the bottom of the gas tank, i haven't looked. the passat we were driving (06?) didn't have one.

Just drive it on to a few 2X4's it should give you enough clearance to shimmy under there.

Isn't driving out of the question? He's putting in a new engine, doesn't want to drive the car at all.

Go to shucks and pick up a cheap garage kit w/ jack, stands, etc. I picked one up for about $100. Works great if you're not a professional mechanic.

Don't feel bad I had what was once a 350 diesel powered Olds Cutlass that I swapped a 500+hp 455 into. I let a friend borrow it and it still had the little warning on the gauge cluster and fuel door that said diesel fuel only. You can figure out the rest...

it's just as bad stopping in oregon, getting out, going to pump, then looking at the gas attendant like "wtf you want" then realizing your a jack ass and saying nothing but "fill up, premium" and walking back to your car something like this

How long the car was sitting?

Couple months will not make your gas bad. So I think you are pretty safe.
