and why?

For me, itīs normal to use the gear nearest to 1, that would be for the manual transmission the 5th gear, and for the autotragic the 4th gear.

Because those gears can reach an unreasonably high mph for a dyno.

Awesome numbers guys! Makes me think about getting one

I really don't like the BRZ. But not bad at all with the with that turbo set up. May I ask how much did everything come up to to get those numbers?
Price of mod's and tune? But great car first one I like some what. Keep they pics and mod's coming!

thanks, but I still donīt buy this...cars with much more hp were testet all over the world, and most of the tuners are using the gear nearest 1

Here you go. Read up on why it really doesn't matter: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1478091

well, Iīve read the thread, and it does matter.
- wheel torque is different
- wheel hp is different
- and sponaugle itself claims first "no difference" in post #35 and than "there is a difference" in post #43

in your thread it clearly states that "wheel torque" and "wheel hp" will change with different gears...funny that the tuners here are giving us the wheel numbers, but who am I...

Read the thread more carefully. What exactly are you trying to do? Your point initially was why wasn't the tune done in a gear closer to 1:1. The thread I linked explains exactly why this does not matter. If you are chasing numbers, then you can go with different gears until you get the peak numbers you're looking for.

The point of dyno tuning shouldn't be to aim for a peak number, but to aim for a smooth curve and maximize the area under the curve. What you should really be comparing when looking at a dyno readout is comparing the percentage difference between the baseline run and the "tuned" run. That will show you a percentage gain or loss. The only important factor here is using the same gear.

In regards to tuning in a lower gear as opposed to a higher gear, I'm with AMS on that as it is a safety concern. Have you ever seen a car jump off the dyno? I would not want to be near one if it was spinning the wheels at 140+ mph in a high gear.

That's hardly a Stage 1.

Stage 1 = Reflash Only
Stage 2 = Reflash + Exhaust
Stage 3 = Reflash + Exhaust + turbo + intercooler
Stage 4 = Reflash + Exhaust + turbo + intercooler + E85 (maybe injector)

"Stage X" is whatever the company making it wants it to be. Don't get all caught up with "Cobb Stg 2" and "TurboXS Stg 3" or whatever.

Besides, this isn't a "Stage 1 BRZ" it's a "Stage 1 Turbo Kit". Haven't you seen companies sell staged brake kits or suspension kits? Those have nothing to do with reflash, etc. It's just a way to differentiate products.

I understand what you're saying, but "Stages" are stepping stones. Stage 1 is usually a small increase in power, Stage 2 adds a little more, stage 3 even more... Stage 1 shouldn't be doubling the power with some special gas. What are they going to call a "Stage" that offers 50hp over stock instead of 200? Stage .25?

Like you said, stages are stepping stones. Stage 1 is what they have available now. If they feel that adding something that only gains a small amount of horsepower isn't worth bragging as "Stage 2" then they can just call it "Stage 1 with (insignificant upgrade)".

They can just call it Stage 2, but they're under no obligation to do so.

"stage 1 turbo kit" . Not stage 1 power kit.

This is likely a $8k turbo kit. Stage 1 means that is the initial turbo. Stage 2 turbo kit will be all same parts plus bigger turbo and injectors(maybe pump too). Stage 3 even BIGGER turbo.

People hating on a BRZ because it makes more power than their car,lol

[off topic] Go back to the newbies section. [/off topic]

Seeing this makes me really want to sell my car and get a brz and turbo it.
Great job on the turbo kit. Only time will tell how the engine will hold up to the power.

If they call it Stage 2, then it makes even less sense since they don't have a stage 1. They just bypassed it? FML. This "stage" stuff is wrecking the tuning community.

Nice job, P&L. Semantics aside, your numbers are impressive. Good thing I don't own a BRZ. I'd be knocking your door down for a kit.

Honestly, who cares? Back in the day a TXS Stage 4 was equivalent to a Vishnu Stage 2. Each company can name their products however they want. It's up to the consumer to figure out what they want and who to get it from. It's not like you're dealing with the IEEE here with a set of standards that everyone has to abide by. It's pure marketing.
