Did you leave your cell phone on the roof by accident?

Never noticed a ringing noise, but I'll keep my ears open.

Dunno what you mean by ringing exactly.
However if what you hear is a faint siren or whistling noise at 2500-3000 rpm it's your turbo spooling up/down.

Try putting your cell phone on vibrate! Sorry, couldn't resist that lead in!

Does the sound change when the window is opened / closed? Is it coming from under the hood (injectors) or from the exhaust area of the car? Thats a tough one to diagnose without more info. What engine RPM, gear, under acceleration, coast or decel?

My WRX makes so many odd sounds ... To fix them, I use the audio mechanic ... I just turn up the radio 'til they go away ... fixed!

I don't get a ringing noise, but from my passenger side when I'm just cruisin down the highway at about 3000rpm I start to hear like a crackle noise. it sounds like rock pebbles, but its not.
I have no idea what it is.

Well .. the ringing sounds like scrreching.... I can hardly hear it with the windows up but when there down i hear it pretty good... when i'm adding gas i hear it when i release gas i hear it when i am in neutral and cruising down i can hear it... i dont go over 4krpm.. its not coming from the exhause... i can hear the WOT but i dont think this sound is coming from the turbo...
it seems to be more towards the driverside wheel... could this be wheel bearings or something?

First, check under the hood for a partially shredded cat. Cats have an affinity for turbo'd cars during the fall and early winter seasons. If not promptly removed, they may also produce a smell akin to a toasted clutch.

If it is a screeching sound that gets louder with engine RPM, it may be a slipping accessory belt. Check the belt tension and look for shiny spots on the belt or discoloration areas on the pulleys.

If it a squeeling sound, it could be a bearing or joint in your front suspension.

It it was actually a cat and the problem persists, a loud Turboxs or equivalent BOV could rid your car of feline passengers.

If the sound is actually from the trunk area, you may have accidently given your trunk monkey some skunky beer!

Default intake pipe loosen?

Also try to check the hose cramp on the intake pipe, and air filter element to make sure there is a good seal.
