Default WTF?!?? Mods please fill me in

So I've made 2 threads in the classified section both have been deleted and I have gotten zero reason why it was removed. I even went through and read the rules. It states something among the lines of "you can sell almost anything" the only thing is weapons. I didn't know elecronics such as tv, ps3 were considered against the guidelines. So please fill me in

Rules & Regulations for using the NWIC Classifieds.

Normal NASIOC rules apply here. If you are not a vendor, do not offer services/specials here. This forum is stictly intended for the trading of goods, not rendered services. There is a seperate subforum for vendors in NWIC.

NWIC Members Only!

Almost anything for sale by PRIVATE OWNER.

If you don't own it or have the item ON HAND don't try to sell it here please.

Excessive selling of parts may get you into trouble if it looks like you're turning into a clearing house...

NO GROUP BUYS!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

NASIOC, NWIC, its moderators and sponsors are not responsible for any posts, transactions (positive or negative), monetary losses, or claims that occur in this sub-forum.

Use at your own discretion.

--------------------

SELLER'S RULES FOR POSTING

1. Please limit your threads as much as possible by combining multiple items into 1 thread. Multiple threads will be either closed or moved at the discretion of the moderators.

2. Do not excessively bump your thread, please limit this to 1 a day. If you are bumping your thread more than once a day you may want to consider moving it to PFS.

3. Do not simply link to a different thread, you must include all pertinent content. Then, if it is still required, you may link to the other thread.

4. The subject line of such threads must be fully descriptive. The proper format would be "FS:", "FT:", "WTB:" etc. followed by the items in question and preferably including a location (Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, etc). This will help you get responses to your post as well as help people avoid wasting time reading threads they have no interest in. Improperly titled threads are subject to editing or locking/deletion by the moderators depending on what kind of mood we are in at the time.

5. Update your thread. If your item sells, be sure to edit your post and mark it as sold.

6. NO SELLING OF WEAPONS, PERIOD!

There is no selling, buying, or trading of weapons of any kind. This includes guns, knives, blow guns, thermonuclear warheads, trained attack lobsters...you get the idea.

7. This is not the place to sell that hot game console - take it to ebay.

8. No selling of Subaru Bucks please !!

9. You must include a picture of the item or items you are selling.

10. A price must be included in the post listing what is for sale.

BUYER'S RULES / NON-SELLER POSTING RULES

1. Any serious claims of fraud or misrepresentation must be filed with local law enforcement or other applicable agency. NASIOC, its moderators and sponsors take no responsibility for your transactions.

2. All pricing concerns should be made via PM. If you feel that the seller is asking too much, this needs to be done via PM. The first time that a user trolls a thread with comments aimed at derailing a sale, the post will be deleted and the user will be warned via PM. The second time, the user will receive points. If the mods feel that the offender is attempting to be cute by acting as if he can get away with one free derogatory post without retribution, points will be given.

3. Keep unrelated comments to a minimum. This sub-forum is for sales only. Any and all topical discussions belong in the main NWIC forum.

If you have any comments, concerns, or suggestions about the NWIC Private Classifieds Forum, please post them in the *Suggestion Box*

The NWIC is a close knit group, cross these people by trying to play internet bandit at your own risk !!

Thanks,
Your friendly local NWIC mods

Most threads don't have pictures
I figured I upload pictures when I had interest
I just want the mod to tell me what part of my threads granted that it be deleted

Same thing happened to me when I posted recently - I skimmed through the rules before posting but I guess the photos rule didn't really register and I saw several threads without. With hindsight, I realized that they just hadn't been moderated yet.

Requiring photos makes sense if you think about it: shows potential buyers what they are getting and cuts out on a lot of PMs asking for pictures.

Pictures show that you have the item in hand and ready to go, not will sell and pull at my leisure 2 weeks later. In the MWSOC we go so far as to require a piece of paper with your username and the date in the picture (really only enforce that last part on very new members)

I think that rule applies more to brand new consoles that people are flipping for a profit over retail price ie: X-mas time, new PS4, all the stores are sold out, retail $350 your price $450.

Edit: I should mention that NWIC is not my playground, your mileage may vary, see box for official rules, may cause lung cancer etc..........

Mileage may vary <- important part. Threads may be up for months, or a couple minutes. Regardless, just because one person speeds, does not mean we should all speed. Rules are there for a reason, we should follow.

However that being said, a stipulation should be that if your post is deleted/removed, a friendly private message stating the reason would help. Issue identified, and then easily remedied.

I'd love to see prices in all threads as well- at least a starting point for negotiation (see Rule 10). Usually the 'I don't know what this is worth, make offer' threads turn into several people PMing the thread starter, often with no response, and not knowing if the guy even got the PM or if he's just holding out for more money. Not to generalize too much, but it seems that poor communication goes along with the guys making the 'feeler' threads.

If you're serious about selling a part, please post a descriptive thread, a couple of pictures, and a price. And have the part ready to go if a buyer comes to you with your asking price. I'm happy that the mods are starting to enforce some of these rules.

I realize that some may want to trade wheels, etc where you need a direct replacement for the ones you've got, so in those cases a 'feeler' thread may work. But things will run a lot more smoothly if people don't post until they're ready to take action, and are ready for prospective buyers.

In a perfect world that would happen, however, when moderating via smart phone that is not always an option. Open / close / move threads works pretty well, PM not so much (at least on my phone)

And we get some feedback from the very people who hold the life of our threads in their hands!

A little insight works, and thank you, however since you mentioned posting from phones, I know personally of several instances where attempting to post from my phone has ended in failure. Trying to add pictures, copy links...if you are unable to pm then maybe a chance understanding that in a perfect world, the post would be immaculate, however this is not a perfect world. If a simple delete is so easily done, a simple "please post pictures according to forum rules" would go a long way. Chance to fix issue, it is plain to all what is going on, and if the issue isnt corrected, by all means remove it. I understand the without warning part, but it would be greatly beneficial to all, moderators included, if an attempt was made to educate and improve, rather than base deletion.

As a for instance, I have noticed a few, thankfully only a few, threads that were deleted, and definitely had pictures and pricing. By chance, those pictures didnt show up on the previously mentioned cell phone, or didnt load right from whichever hosting service? I understand it is much simpler to delete, and care not what happens after that. But should that always be the correct answer, is easier always better?

Here is the deal. I am starting to enforce the rules regarding price and pictures for a couple of reasons. First reason for the pictures is to keep out some of the scammers. I know it won't cut out all of the scammers but it will discourage some of the lazier ones. I could take the idea that Hondaslapper mentioned and make you all put a card or paper with your SN in the picture but for now I won't. It also saves time and makes it easier to buy and sell things. If you have the picture and price in the OP then people know what you want and what the condition of the item is.

These are not exactly hard rules to follow. There are many websites that allow for free image hosting so it should be quick and easy. As for posting on cell phones, most of these sites also allow you to email in images to upload. I agree that this way might take a little more work but it is still possible. If you are able to get on NASIOC with your phone you should also be able to post pictures.

The rules clearly state as well that if your thread does not conform to the rules it will be deleted without warning. As far as the pictures issue goes I have been trying to give warnings to older threads that were created prior to the middle of the month when I posted the new sticky. So far I have gotten mixed responses ranging from people immediately uploading pictures, ignoring my requests and then there was the guy who told me to **** off and I should delete his thread because he didn't want to follow the rules. If you are so confused about why your thread was deleted maybe you should be proactive and PM me before you repost. As of now I am just deleting your first thread if it breaks the rules. If you repost and break the same rule I will give you points.

Interesting. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=919472 says nothing about deletion. Also find the warning part interesting, didnt know that was happening. And again find the part where we have to specifically pm you interesting, didnt know there was only one moderator, but good to know what the source of the confusion and issues has been.

Maybe this will clear some things up, make everyone happy. And teach us all to read and check for changes carefully.

Bottom line: read rules, check for updates on stickies, post pictures and pricing. NWIC runs a tight ship for our convenience!

Some good points brought up.

If you can't post pictures, don't bother making a thread until you can. It's simple.

As a note, I always filter my craigslist results for pictures. If you can't be bothered to post pictures, I can't be bothered to read your ad.

I love the pictures rule. Especially when people are asking top dollar for items, how are we supposed to know its worth top dollar without even being able to see a picture of it?

I don't see what is so hard about posting pics. You have a better chance of selling if you take 2 minutes to post some.

i usually open a thread, and if i see it doesn't have pictures, barely take notice to anything written and just exit out, unless i really need it or something

So instead of sending a PM saying I deleted your thread cause of "-----" I have to figure out who actually deleted it and sending a PM to then? My second thread clearly stated "mod please send me pm why my first one was deleted" "also added that I will upload Picts when I get on my laptop"
I didn't get any warning which is fine but you stated you send warnings or something
I didn't get either.
Am I a little frustrated? Yes only because I feel like here is a serious lack of communication.
I appreciate you tryin to keep scammers off the board but seeing as how a lot of members on here know me and vouch for me and I've sold anything from memory cards to my car I highly doubt I'm a scammed myself.

And for pictures I can skim through the first page and can bet a good amount of them do not have pictures.

Just stating my case that's all
Again no warring it just got deleted
Second thread asked mod to pm me a reason why it got deleted so I'd have a an of who did it and why

I feel like I am being proactive by asking who did it and their reasoning behind it. I'm not bashing to coming off negatively in any way shape or form

Is it that hard to post pictures? There's been multiple cases of fraud and scams around, so quit your bitching. The rules are to make things stress free as possible.
