Default weird car issues, maybe not related

CN: car acting broken when wife drives it, runs fine when i drive it.

heres the rundown:

wife borrows car to run to the store real quick. i tell her to get a few gallons of gas while out, so i have enough to stop at my favorite place tomorrow before work. so she does.

then i get a call from her, she says my car wont start. i tell her to engage the e-brake, put gear in neutral, turn key to acc, turn off DDS3, turn off turbo-timer, and then try it. she does all these things, and she says, woah, a big cloud of smoke just came out the back of your car. so i tell her im on my way. throw the kid into the other car, and we head out.

i arrive, go through the process of making sure everything is turned off, and then i check for startup noises of fuel pump, meth pump, etc. everything sounds good, i dont see any cels, so i try to start. it cranks, but doesnt turn over. i try it a few times, still nothing. didnt see any smoke, so i asked her what color and she said dark.

i saw she only put $5 in, so i pumped 5 gallons, just in case something weird was going on in the tank, like bad gas or no gas hitting fuel pump filter bag.

tried an ecu reset, just to see if something was pulling timing/fuel/air, etc. that did nothing, so i did a reflash to a safe map i have for untuned injectors. figured it wouldnt hurt to try it all. nothing worked, so i put my regular map back on.

i checked the ignition fuse, just to be sure it wasnt that. that looked good, so i kept trying to start it again. finally i hear it catch, but it was running such a low rpm it was barely starting. so i revved it up to 1.5k and held it there, and i watched the motor bounce side to side for several seconds. whenever i let off the gas, it felt like it was going to die.

managed to drive it home, and noticed the airbag light is on. pull into parking lot, and pop the back off the clock pod, to see if something was messing with the clock/pass airbag wiring. those looked connected, and i tried to restart the engine.

started up like a champ, as if nothing was wrong. did this several times, to see if it was a fluke, and it wont repeat its symptoms.

perhaps its a jealous car, and doesnt like my wife driving it? it took my tender care and attention to calm it down and perform like it should.

if you have any insight to these mystery problems, feel free to chime in.

resolved: turned out my Perrin BPV blew itself apart, so it was running retardedly rich. got some better screws, put the BPV valve back together, and all is well.

Let's see. Things a wife could do wrong. $5 of diesel? What, 1.1 gal.

OK, so with the ignition "on" the fuel pump pressurizes the system and stops pumping. Meth pump not running. A big puff of black smoke sounds like too much fuel/meth resulting in a flooded engine, like meth pump not shutting off, injector (s) leaking. Too rich would account for all of your symptoms and once the extra fuel is burned off everything should be fine. But I bet it will reoccur unless you have an ignition check list and sequence for starting the engine that she didn't follow. I'm suspecting that meth hook-up. Hwy61
