Default Stage 1, TurboXS Unichip question

My name is on the waiting list for a Unichip from Turbo XS. My question is - What exactly is the unichip going to do. I thought it told the computer what boost to run and made adjustments to the fuel, air, delivery. I now find out you get another piece - I assume to adjust boost to go along with the Unichip that they have preset at 16.5 psi.
So if what I think is correct. They give you a new boost controller and the Unichip designed to work with the new amount of boost the turbo is making.

If this is true. Then why can you just buy a MBC and run it with the stock computer. Will the Unichip combined with the turboXS boost controller allow for higher boost levels thus more Horse Power.
I thought the Unichip was a EBC. Where the computer adjusted boost.
Anyone who has purchased the stage 1 kit from TurboXS please explain.

Sorry for all the questions guys.

The Unichip changes the amount of fuel to safely run higher boost. A boost controller can't change fuel ratios.

So basically what I assume is true. The Unichip will allow me to use their boost controller preset at 16.5 psi.
How high can someone run the boost (MBC) on a stock WRX?

It also modifies ignition timing and raises the point of fuel cutoff.

With the Unichip your car still controls the boost. It (the car) is just fooled into increasing the boost to the appropriate level.

How does it fool the car? Doesn't the car use a similar boost controller set at 14.2 psi. Doesn't the boost controller set the boost level leaving the turbo. I don't understand. Sorry, I need to take WRX 101.

In the unchip setup there is a small hose with a restrictor in it. It runs from the turbo to the tee which attaches to the wastegate solenoid and the factory boost controller.

I believe the restrictor will influence a boost increase or decrease depending on the restrictor's size.

I could be wrong, but I would think the restrictor makes the car think it isn`t producing enough boost, there by keeping the wastegate from bleeding off boost.

Or you could go by the fact that it just works

Something like that.

I wondered why that blue hose was so important. So, if I want to run higher boost, will I need a larger restricotr hose? I mean when I get a bigger turbo.

Or a ebc like the Blitz SBC-id.

It might actually be a small restrictor in the hose to increase the boost.

But ya your basically right.
