Default Tweeters in stock location?

Is it possible to get good sound by mounting the tweeters in the stock location? I'm just wondering if the stock plastic perforated cover is muffling the sound. I have been questioning my tweeter location as a possible reason why my Infinity component speakers don't sound as open or airy as the lesser Infinity component speakers in my other car, where I mounted the tweeter using the Infinity housing in the door sail trim.

i just installed my infinity separates too, and mounted my tweets in the stock locations. by no means am i an expert, but for the best imaging i don't think the stock locations are optimal. i've seen custom kick panels or custom pillar pods that would probably be better.

for my purposes, the stock location worked out fine, and i'm happy with the result.

The factory location is definitly not ideal by any means, good for stelthy purposes though......

A lot of debate has gone around here reguarding "sail-panel" installs.... I personaly am not a fan of it, i feel it is to bright and to far away from the mid bass.....You do however get good imaging and staging out of that particular install.....

I personaly like the kick-panel due to the fact that the tweeter is closer to the woofer which is good for response reasions....also it helps TAME really bright tweeters........Here is a pic of my tweeter location.....when the weather warms up, i'm gonna build some glass door panels to help with my serious mechanical distortion i get from the flimsy sube doors.......

Good Luck,

Peas,
