Default whats the right reading

I just wanted to ask what should the right "-" reading be on the boost gauge. Mine when idling is usually average -8.5 to -9.5. Is that normal? Thanks guys

At idle, the engine is under vacuum and the reading shown by your boost gauge will be depedent on RPM, throttle position, and barometric pressure. So, there really is no right or wrong reading (within reason). If you are trying to determine if you have any intake leaks, the best way to do that is via logging if you have an AccessPORT v2 by looking at your long-term fuel trims (A/F Learning 1) after a good amount of cruise-type driving.

The cruise-type driving is only if you've recently reflashed a map, installed the AP, reset the ECU (via AP), or disconnected the car's battery. Doing that would clear the learning and you would need a decent amount of cruise-type driving for it to re-populate correctly. But, if it has been more than a week of driving since any of those operations, you can view the four current long-term fuel trims via the "Monitor" -> "Live Data" function on the AP. You want to look at A/F Learning 1 A, B, C, D. Generally, each of these should be within +/- 5%. If they are outside +/- 8%, then you likely have a fueling issue which could be any of a number of things.

We also have a data logging video that you might want to check out:

You'll want to post the actual log. You can do this by uploading it to google docs, set the permissions to public, and then put a link to the log in this thread.

You did it right.

What car is this (05 WRX)? What mods do you have? What map are running?

Nice and sorry should of mentioned. I have a 05 WRX, mods running: VF43, 07 Sti injectors, larger TMIC, Perrin short ram intake, Perrin turbo intake hose, grimmspeed mbc, Turbosmart dual port bov, catless up pipe, Cobb down pipe, Invidia 3" exhaust. Im using temp. your shelf map of VF39, sti pinks on 93oct. It feels ok and I will be getting it pro-tuned at P&L hoping next week depending when Junior gets in. Also I will be removing the Mbc and adding Grimmspeed EBCS before the pro-tune. So does it look ok?

You're overboosting at least compared to what we are running in our stage 3 map (because of MBC). I would stay out of boost as much as possible until you get tuned.

Looks fine - just stay out of boost as much as you can until your tune or switch back to the factory bcs with this map.

You'll want to check with the protuner - it difficult to see what they intended as it relates to boost especially if you are still running the MBC.

Pro-Tuner Junior at P&L said I should be boosting around 18psi and I'm running a Grimmspeed EBCS. Does it not look well and should get tuner to reconfigure it? Hope not Thank you

if you got your car protuned with a good tuner, your tuner has a responsiblity to support all your concerns/questions after tune. thats what you paid for. no reason to ask around internet.

I have talked to P&L . Is taken care of. Just wanted an opinion from someone else. Nothing wrong with that. Nuff said!
