Anyone else have major problems adjusting JDM projectors?
I'm referring to the Bugeye JDM projectors. Seriously, these have got to have the poorest design ever for adjusting. First problem being the socket adjustments are PLASTIC and easily strip. I ended up over turning mine a little bit and could not get them to turn anymore because the plastic adjustment was already stripped! I had to drill a small hole so I could stick something through it to get leverage to turn them. Am I doing something wrong here? Has anyone else had this issue?

The only right way to do this is to open up the housings and flip the cutoff shields.

having taken these lamps apart...you can't just flip shields. Either find the knock off lhd shields on evilbay and ope for the best, or retrofit proper projectors in them

Flipping the shields only works on the Hawkeye and newer projectors.

I ajusted mine yester day. 8mm gear rench worked great. The ajuster nuts are not in a good place and it was a pain to keep the rench on the ajuster when turning it, but it worked.

this is also an issue on normal usdm lights. subaru decided to use metal gear teeth on a plastic gear. not cool. if you have to, you can use a small wrench or pair of pilers to turn the plastic nut, basically bypass the 8mm section. that is just there to provide you with a decent angle to attach a socket. oh btw, youre blinding everyone with those jdms. |
