I Have a dilemma maybe i could some of your opinions. I'm needing to get some tranny work done on my bugeye which is going to be expensive no matter what the diagnoses is. My wife thinks i should sell it as is and get another one with less miles. I'm not sure what to do i love my bugeye.

I figured that was you today honking at me. I would love to do a six speed swap but i need more $$$. I'd like to keep my car but something with less miles would be nice. I'll have to make some phone calls to some shops about a six speed swap.

honeslty I think it would be worth it to keep it and save up for a stronger tranny/ the 6 speed...that way you have a stronger car and your not starting over with a new car you dont know much about! Just my opinion tho...I'd rather keep my car and build it to be stronger then to start over with something that may eventually have the same problem...

I am saving my money for a tranny upgrade as well. I was leaning toward the 6 speed, but there is a 2003 ppg 5 speed in Oregon that is for sale... He wants $3200 plus a good condition wrx 5 speed in trade. It is straight cut 1-4 and stock 5th. Tatmana is selling it if you are interested.

I am going to do the 6 speed swap in my garage as soon as I get the cash to buy the parts. Depending on what you get, it isn't too bad. I am looking at an 04 sti trans/r180/hubs/axles for mine. All bolt in and keep my struts/brakes/wheels. You can also get a JDM V7 or V8 sti trans/rear/axles and keep your hubs/brakes/struts. Could always buy a 5 speed, 02/03 trannys are usually less than $1k. I'd let you borrow my garage tranny jack and help you do it. Did the clutch in my car in a weekend, pulled the trans to do it, so got a little experience. Maybe some others will be willing to help as well? |

What else do you have done? How long have you driven on the maps?

I followed all the instructions correctly and it didn't give me any kind of error report or anything just i felt no gain or loss since i started. I even uninstalled and reinstalled and still felt nothing. it maybe that the car has been already tuned from the previous owner? but wouldn't the cobb delete that tune and replace it?

Sure, I will put the sway on the order. WTL-KBR20-24 right?
I was going to tell you, let me take a look at your Perrin front links and I bet we could replace the sphericals with urethane bushings. |
