Yeah I got a place in Gaylord. It's a hike, but it was one of the few places with a room left.

Same here.. oh well.

Does anyone know if this is a dry event like STPR is? I know they even check your backpack at stpr. But for some reason I get the vibe snodrift is more of a party?

A sherrif pulled up to our group on his sno*mobile as we were walking in to the spectator area with a case of beer a few years ago. He slowed, shook his head, and said I wish we could trade places before he drove on ahead. We shouted to him that if he let us go for sno*mobile rides we'd share, but it was a no go. Ah well.

Someone also walked up to me one year with a very hazy look in his eye and asked if I was the one with the purple something or other (didn't recognize the name so I'm guessing it was chemical, not a plant).

and then there's this pic I took last year...

Does that answer your question?

Awesome! I didn't think they would make us stand in the freezing woods with no alcohol. This is going to be the best! Great picture, thanks for the quick response. And I still have a few hours to stock up before we hit the road!

We are in the holiday inn express at Gaylord. If anyone has a recommendation of the best turns please share! Just got done with breakfast. Heading ovef to the expose soon and hopefully hit the 1st or 2nd turns today.

This is the first time here for my friends and me. Were STPR fans but heard this is the "wild" one. Looking forward to a good time.

Just got back after eating. We met a ton of cool people today and got to watch some awesome rally. A ton of "creative" 360 turning back on B turn. Laughs all around.

This rally is definitely a little more wild than STPR. By wild I mean drunk people climbing trees and some hilarious shenanigans.

Update: Rally is over. Last turn was a blast. Great times with the inside corner. Does anyone know what happened to Higgins? They lost 6 seconds on the last stage and ended up in second. Awesome race anyway, just wondering if they hit something or spun out. Hopefully this means this season is going to have some close competition again.

Here are some quick clips we shot:

I just caught up with the SRT at a rest stop in Ohio. They said Lestage was just gunning it in the last stage, bouncing it off snow banks and running crazy because he had nothing to lose. If he had wiped out he still had 2nd by a long shot. Crazy close race. Well see how the rest of the year goes...

Love the first video, brings back memories. I'm pretty sure I've spectated there a few times in the past. One especially icy year we saw 3 folks into the trees and I want to say out of all of the competitors maybe 2 made it without an issue.

One of the SWRT cars just went straight about 100 yards after figuring out there was no way they could make it.

Awesome. It was great to meet so many new people. My friends and I are already looking forward to next year. I am working on a compilation of wipeout footage from B.

If anyone was at A, did you see the guy fall out of the tree? We never see those kind of antics at STPR. Too funny.

Kickass!! We definitely heard cheering, and I tried to stay on horn duty as best I could. haha! We placed 5th OL on Friday, and 3rd on Saturday. 10th overall regionals on Saturday. Pretty damn good for his second event!!

Luckily it was a lot better than years past in terms of how icy it was. Still slick, but not all that bad. Sounds like you need to make it up next year!

That is hilarious! Sno*Drift definitely reigns as one of the best spectator rallies for the sheer shenanigans.

The only rally where you are more than likely to get away with something like this without any damage

Yeah it was the same guy climbing back up. I KNOW everyone wanted him to Colorado that bad boy and fall again.

I have a picture of the local German guy that walked away with Nicksquared's side skirt.

It wasn't the coldest year but it did get to me pretty bad on the first day.

My best shot,
Yep. Same guy. God hates a quitter. We were laughing pretty good at that one.

AWESOME picture. Nice job. I hope to have a better camera by the time I go to STPR.

Does anyone know what it costs to buy photo credentials for the weekend from Rally America? I would love to shoot better less obstructed pics.

Our group might have had something to do with taunting that guy into climbing the tree again LOL.

In the last few seasons, RA has been very selective about who gets photo credentials, plus there are copyright requirements as I remember.

The best thing to do is contact Rally America.

I know most people had left by the time I got to the spectator areas, but I was driving the "Green Light" car behind the sweep trucks on Saturday (not Friday).

Well, here it is...all the spin outs back on B. Road was almost all ice.

Enjoy. Its about four and a half minutes long. Watch in 360 or 480 for better quality. Youtube's 240p version is awful

Just volunteer as a marshal. Having had media credentials in the past I can tell you it's just a lot less hassle to work with almost the same freedom. I've been working Sno*Drift since 2001 and it's the easiest way to stand were you want with very little effort.

Anyway, pics.
