PureOne Filter
This is I believe my 10th oil change and the first time I tried taking off a PureOne filter and the mofo is stuck! Any suggestions? I tried stabbing it to loosen it but I just ended up shooting oil all in my eye, lmao..

Yeah, I'd try that if I had a parts store or a store that carried that less than a mile from my house, lol

don't blame the filter cause you/the oil change place put the thing on too tight . oil filters only require a few lb-ft of torque, hand tight.

I dont use a filter wrench when I put them on, I hand tighten them. Anyway, I just wasn't used to taking them off with my Borla Headers and had to wrap my arm around the backside of the filter with the filter wrench. Good thing I have thin arms

I think you are doing something wrong. On all four of my subaru I have NEVER had to use a filter wrench. Hand tighten them with ONE HAND.

Old trick, seatbelt strap (or rope or something) tied in a loop, put around the filter. Twist a wrench in the slack and use for leverage.

Did you pre oil the seal before installing the filter? |

Yeah, I preoil the seal and fill it with oil. This is the first filter I have had this happen on ever, so I seem to suspect that my oil filter wrench sucks, and that the indentations in the pureone filter are too small. I put on another wix filter since I've had no problems with them. Also, after changing my oil to Royal Purple and removing my A/C belt, it seems that accelerating from 50 in 3rd to 4th gear is quite a bit faster. I went to the track last night, but the stupid hicks don't know how to waterproof the lights, O I waited 4hrs to hear that is was canceled.

The deal is one hand to install and two to remove. Only around a 3/4 turn is needed after it starts to give some resistance. You just put it on too tight is all. Not the filters fault, Purolator makes the OEM filters.
I have one of these and it gets filters off every time. |
